Halt and Catch Fire (4 seasons)
“A tech drama that takes place entirely between the first iteration of Microsoft Word in 1983 and Windows 95, Halt and Catch Fire kept its focus squarely on the haze of an emerging field, without any of the fist-pumping moments that might have come from a show focusing on the rise of Google or Facebook. The characters never achieved lasting success or transformation, perpetually stymied by the major players in a nascent and clunking industry. Instead, they faced an endless, thankless series of intractable workplace decisions about integrity, product quality and business logistics.”

The mind is not a vessel to be filled, but a fire to be kindled.

I just spent a couple of days binge watching a 2017 Netflix miniseries "Godless".
It's been mentioned before but if you haven't watched it yet go for it. I'm no big fan of cow boys stories but the brutal realism & quality of the narrative and dialogues and actors and scenery is awesome. A solid 9

"We are turning into a nation of whimpering slaves to Fear—fear of war, fear of poverty, fear of random terrorism, or suddenly getting locked up in a military detention camp on vague charges of being a Terrorist sympathizer." HST
watching for probably the 5th time the whole 7 series of Still Game
Probably been mentioned already but Tulsa King is so bad it's good.

Happy Valley is well worth a watch. Like Line of Duty, but without all the silliness.
Gritty, oop north TV.

I've really enjoyed UK cop shows (including Luther and Line of duty) since I stumble on Prime Suspect a couple of decades ago
The best French series, spirals, is in the same gritty vein.

I was a bit late to it but Catastrophe was a funny comedy. Short 25 minute episodes with Rob Delaney and Sharon Horgan.
4 series made in total.
Another comedy - for those with Cambodian wives - is Modern Family. An old American guy gets a young Columbian wife. Easy fun watching with some pretty funny moments. And Sofia Vergara is a bit special.
Strike Back is an SAS type action - based on a Chris Ryan (or maybe Andy McNab) book. It’s not wonderful but it’s something my wife would watch with me. Lots of explosions and gun fights. Loads of episode and series.

trying to watch S4 of drive to survive ..A life long motorsport fan...its pretty dire I think the first two season were better...
the BBC just had a story ...only 12 minutes of women speaking in the whole series....what a shock in a sport that is still mostly men.....at least at the very leading edge of F1.......

Episode 9/12 for the final Ted Lasso out today.
This season isn't as great as the first two although still enjoyable. It's everything I should hate- America, Britain, feel-good sports sitcom with loads of what people call 'woke' but one finds it a captivating and often laugh-out-loud comedy.

I'm finding this current season better than season 2 but the show seems to have lost the comedy and is now mainstream drama. Given that there is very little else I look forward to it each week.pedros wrote: ↑Wed May 10, 2023 8:05 pmEpisode 9/12 for the final Ted Lasso out today.

With the writer's strike I fear there won't be much good content an any channel/platform for a good year or two.
