Hi all

anyone got a recommendation for the best indian in PP? looking for either a traditional Indian place or a UK style indian.

I have tried a couple but not been massively impressed, Besto the best I have tried but apparently that has closed.

I miss my usual Friday night fix so would be grateful for any feedback.

thanks

They have peshwari naan. Just ask!

I used to swear by sheer e Punjab on 130 but have they changed hands or chef or something, the quality seems to have declined over the last few months.

There is one on street 110 near the former garage that's excellent.

I love Indian food, and often lament the fact that the local food here isn't more like it.
Anyway, my favorite Indians are:

1. Namaste on 308.

2. Flavors of India on 63.

3. Kathmandu on 258.

4. Dosa Corner on 51.

5. Sher-E-Punjab on 130.

6. Mount Everest on 294.

Any other recommendations are very welcome. 8-)

Shiva Shakti street 63 south of Mao Tse Tung. And if you are ever in Kampot try Simon's which is an excellent Bangladeshi place.

It was still called garage bar when I walked by a few days ago.

Cheap - Taste Budz street 282 near The Place
Mid range - Sher-e Punjab 130 near the river
Higher end - East India Street 114

Heard good things about the new place near ballsack lane, but tried it last week and it was average. Taste Budz is probably my favourite as there's lots of interesting things on the menu, not just the standard curry house selection.

Flavors of India, St. 63. I stop there every week for daal Makani and Tikka daal takeaway. Excellent. There's another at the other end of St. 63, but apparently Angelina Jolie stopped there once, and the prices are pumped up - like $4 for naan, I think it was.

Covered already by others & other threads, but happy to add opinion:

Shiva Shakti remains the top end option for both setting & food quality.
Sher-e-Punjab st.130 or Flavours of India st.63 I'd put mid-range & most like an "English" style Indian (if you can call it that)
Taste Budz is indeed budget end/crappy decor, but also pretty authentic & very popular with South Asians I've seen in that area.

For those who need the vegetarian option & very fussy re: acceptable ingredients based on religion, etc - there is also an Indian chef at the Sofitel hotels (main restaurant - both PP & Siem Reap) who cook food to custom order; was surprised to see this, but the dish one of my colleagues had looked bloody good.

Here's a good combo - daal Makani, which got from Flavors of India about an hour ago, and kimchi (SuperDuper has great kimchi). The tastes go well together.
