Yeah, I've never cared much for mushy peas but those ones look very strange.
your preferred stop for fish and chips

Cooking meals one at a time is a recipe for disaster. They are going to have punters waiting ages for meals if a few groups turn up within minutes of each other. Plus the point of eating out with friends is that you all eat at the same time!
k440, something to do when you're pissed.
A chippy without a counter?Captain Bonez wrote: ↑Sat Jun 26, 2021 1:02 pmHad the cove's fish (dory) and chips last night, not bad, decent piece of battered fish, good chips, id go back again
Drinks are nothing to write home about, they could probably save themselves a few bucks each day by not handing out weird mushy peas that no one eats and maybe increase the amount of chips instead, and the chef cooks the meals one at a time, so despite us all ordering the same thing, the food came out separately which is annoying when mine comes out and everyone else is finished or nearly finished.

Do they still sell fish and chips with bits up north?
You don't get them ever in London.

They’re called scraps and every chippy has them. They’re free. Fish and chips and a portion of scraps is a joyous treat.
I’m Irish and The Cove wasn’t the cod I wanted. It was only corona bottles today but I bought 6 and they gave me 12 so I was drunk when the food came out. 4 out of 5 from this guy, because the fish was still the best fried Ivee had around here
Just now, gorgeous day, but... including a nine dollar tip for nhh service at an All (UK) Nations sort of place in Santa Monica (Ye Olde King's Head, complete with British staff, rhubarb pie and tikka mas on menu) it cost me 45 dollars for one hunk of cod, chips on newspaper and two black 'n tans! At least they had malt.
That's!--perspective!
The oysters across the street should be better.

Hope it was good.los angeles wrote: ↑Mon Jul 05, 2021 9:35 amJust now, gorgeous day, but... including a nine dollar tip for nhh service at an All (UK) Nations sort of place in Santa Monica (Ye Olde King's Head, complete with British staff, rhubarb pie and tikka mas on menu) it cost me 45 dollars for one hunk of cod, chips on newspaper and two black 'n tans! Mr Jo3:
It wasn't bad, it wasn't great. It was stingy, but it worked (Queen: 1@16, King: 2@23). It's usually the batter that makes or breaks it. It almost looks like a krueller (WI fish fries/chips are the best in the US, by the way) and was too dry. So yeah, fascinating stuff lol.
Here are the oysters: Blue Plate Oysterette.
57$ + 15 dollar tip. 12 alacarte (3.50/3.75 each) with tea and lemonade. From B.C. (little ones/amazing), Carlsbad, Ca (july 2nd, classic, freshest on the 5th) and some gamier Connecticut clams, from the 28th along with the B.C.'s. Excellent red onion vinaigrette.
Nonetheless, I got a cheeseburger an hour later lol.
bon appetit.
