Where did this fantastic Khmer place move to? It was near the Rock, and before the economic boom near the Sihanouk Blvd junction with St. 51 Rue de Pasteur.

It was just plastic chairs and tables, and later they added cheap bamboo booths, but they served some DELICIOUS medium-rare steak on a round of wood, the place was packed and often ran out by 8pm. For $5!!

They saved on rent by opening at 6pm on an unused parking lot. Dirt cheap!

I know, I know, even my friends thought I was lying, or didn't know steak. Ha! I've had a Sicilian-style porterhouse in NY (West Village), Ruth Chris' specials, even an aged boutique cut in Atlanta, but these Khmer steaks are GOOD. They have tiny slivers of garlic inserted into them that release their flavors as it's cooked, too, so an added kicker.

A country Khmer's banquet!

Where did it move to? The manager was this cute Chinese gal Hua with a degree from Pannasastra (?), if I remember correctly. Good enough English, great service, would reserve a steak for you if you came late.

They also served exotic Khmer food, like ox tongue or cow brain, strange (!!) country specialties.

Odd right? But my pals' Khmer g.f.'s / wives LOVED THE PLACE, they kinda liked the country vibe, etc. And they ordered the strangest things while we chomped on fresh steak. Nice touch I remember the gals sliced the beef for us.

I think it's locally-sourced, but that Chinese gal knew how to run the kitchen.

Everyone laughed at me! Until they tasted it. Then they bought me my steak, haha!

Where'd it go now?

That's it, that's all. No one wants to hear your endless drivel. You're full for hot air, learn to keep it succinct. That's saying a lot coming from me...

    1. Mangoes and chutney.
    2. Lychee and blackberries? (I forget)

I'd like to try watermelon and black pepper.

Some say kimchee and cheddar tastes...
