Should be a very interesting game with NSW gambling on 11 debutantes, the youngest side in 24yrs.
QLD will miss legends Thurston, Smith and Cronk but still have SoO experience on their side. For entertainment sake I hope the deb's put up a brave show otherwise it might just be an embarrassing walkover for Brad Fittler who I think had no choice but to change the old guard. Opener played in Melbourne and should get crowd around 80k and the most watched sporting event all year in Aus.
Either way, never a dull moment.

RainMan knows his league. I am a convert now after spending more than three years in FNQ. I don't watch many games but follow it a lot. I think NSW will win the series with the changing of the guard. I am starting to follow Penrith, they have some great players. There is a forward with a hyphenated half Maori name who is in the NSW squad. His grandfather was the first Maori Captain on the Kiwis in the 1930s.
I used to go to games at Carlaw Park in Auckland in the 1950s. Go the Cowboys!

Ahhh, FNQ, used to cut sugar cane by hand in Ingham for 3 seasons, hate sugar but great money and good times. Port Douglas still had dirt roads then.
Yeah Cowboys fan here and hope J Thurston gets a run if QLD and NSW are one all going into the decider. He'll get a run for sure, chomping at the bit.

Well, that went well, even though Billy Slater was out injured the outcome would still have been NSW winner. Kudos to Brad Fittler (head coach) for fielding a young team, bet he sweated for 80 mins.RainMan wrote:'Will be running First Try scorer and correct score of the game...'
First try. Billy Slater Qld.
Score. QLD 20
NSW 4
I'm size XXXL.
Game 2 will be tougher.
QLD 12
NSW 8
I'll close the door on the way out.
Never mind.

Game 2 tomorrow and Qld is paying $3 to win Good to see Billy Slater back on field this time.
I'll take some of that as the world cup bets aren't looking so good. Qld must win to avoid a dead rubber plus the 3rd game is on home ground.
Spent 60 on the WC so 40 on this game will even me up and some beers...or just suck up the 100 loss.

Indeed, a gutsy effort RainMan, the goal kicking let them down. It's always like that in league, why cant they kick goals?RainMan wrote:18-14, what a great game, classic. If only QLD had a better goal kicker, dam missed 3.
Rugby they kick them from 55metres accurate on an angle. In South Africa, at high alitude it sails over at 65metres.
Important points. Great game never the less
