It's going to be an awful shame if the engine goes on this car and it has to be written off...

Engine
Good point and I thought long and hard about this BEFORE spending time and money on the car. Last owner of 10 years was a preschool teacher so no 4WDing and no abuse. She drove it to work and back and a few years ago spent good money on all the expensive jobs like headers etc. If / when the engine does go – I will simply swap it out which will cost around $6k I guess. A hell of a lot cheaper still than another car . The body on this car is straight as and values of these old 4wds are only going one way although I have no intention of selling. I just hope the engine doesn’t shit itself when I am deep in the bush !
Weight
I removed rear seats and towbar so there was a reduction of at least 100kg.
I have added lightweight aluminium racks, a centre console fridge, a rear drawer ,an LED light bar and a shade awning – probably 80kg all up.
As for “gumph” the additions per above are what is required as a bare minimum when you live remote and get right out to enjoy your surroundings. Dunno about you but I prefer not to smash into buffaloes and roos in the dark, drink luke warm beer or die of sun stroke.

There’s plenty of your sort of 4x4 in the UK, with high lift kits, snorkels, big arse tyres, shiny suspension struts, big bull bars (actually illegal in the UK) big 2 million lumen spot lights, over sized roof rack etc.
Perfect for driving around London city streets!

Kenilworth isn’t near London.
Those discos are owned by the local Dads Army rescue walts.
High viz jackets. Check.
Light bar. Check.
Clipboard. Check.
If you’ve got a diesel Disco you won’t need a snorkel even in that depth. Pretty good airbox and if you’ve got low pressure under the engine it won’t flood out.
Nice 90 but was a bit Smokey after!
Saw a LR Freelander try to go through that Ford. Nope!

Cheap as chips in the uk. The 200tdi is a crap engine and the rear floor rots plus the front pivot hubs bearings wear out quickly. The 300tdi engine is better.
Not many V8 around nowadays.
Edit. Just checked EBay. Maybe I should have said good V8s!
