I might be wrong, but I think there is very little tax on beer in Germany.Lucky Lucan wrote: ↑Sat May 15, 2021 9:32 pmI was buying that in LIDL last time I was in Ireland, it was cheap but more like €1.49? It seems like it, that at 60 Euro cents is cheaper than any beer here - and it's not just watery lager.

60 euros is about 3000 riel. The local brews from shops can't be more expensive, can they?Lucky Lucan wrote: ↑Sat May 15, 2021 10:14 pmIt seems like it, that at 60 Euro cents is cheaper than any beer here - and it's not just watery lager.
Case of 333 used to cost about 10 $ in Vietnam,
Case of Anchor was 11 or or 12,
A big bottle of beer Laos was a dollar,
A big bottle of Leo was a little more,
Each beer in its respective country of course.
k440, something to do when you're pissed.
Certainly in my teens and 20's and early 30s it was substantial. It's been 0% for many years now.

Those are 500ml bottles though, most cans here are 330ml. And it's Weissbier, not Lager.

They are not big bitter drinkers in Ireland, so nice change to Guinness. Like finding the Da Vinchi code.
Northern Ireland's Smithwicks is about the only mainstream bitter. Be nice if you could get Old Speckled Hen here at around the same price.
That's a fine drop that I remember from college days.
IPA seems to have replaced bitters here.
Haven't got into that really.
No additives or e numbers in beer in Germany evidently.
I did wonder if that's why I woke up this morning wondering if I did, or did not have a dinner last night. It turns out I did though.

I find hangovers from German beers to be considerably more mild, especially when compared to the basic beers - Heineken, Asahi etc.spitthedog wrote: ↑Sun May 16, 2021 4:58 pm

In answer to the OPs question, about 1%, which is higher than it used to be due to the boredom induced by a lack of travel.

I never had any interest in it or curiosity about it. It's not for me.

I couldn't keep up with an Irish mate of mine. And not only in quantity, but also in demeanor. 4 $2 jugs down the road, he still seemed all sober while I was about to fall of the chair. Respect. I consider you have a problem if you are unable to stop drinking for several days, weeks, months at own will. I suggest taking up hiking or some other strenuous activity then.

I hope your job doesn't demand higher-level linguistic skills.

Oh right. Yes, I should always remember to use the most appropriate wording when posting on 440.
