Heard Larry’s got raided as well.
Got this text:
There's just been an announcement saying:
Phnom Penh governor decided to temporarily closed high risk businesses for 14 days from 3-16 June
Including schools, clubs, bars, resorts, casinos
Cinema, fitness centers
Other businesses will be analyzed base on the certain situation whether it should be close or not.

That's not a great translation.. it was more about gathers of 15+ being banned including the normal ktvs and beer gardens.
Nothing seemed to be mentioned specifically about bars and restaurants having to closed.
But when will Larry catch a break? Seems his local plod are keen to exploit any new rule and make him and example.
I feel for the guy

Larry says that the police did indeed visit but there was no problem because they are following the guidelines for social distancing.
The police were mainly checking hostess bars. Some of those have been reopening the last few nights.

Yeah, saw a bunch of these complete incompetent idiots (aka "the competent authority") tonight as well. They really have no idea what they're doing other than exercising their supposed "power" over random establishments.
E.g. tonight I saw them separating a table with 2 people sitting on opposite sides, while the next establishment with 5-6 people sitting closely together was left as is.
I know, This Is Cambodia, but anyone wondering why the locals give less and less about these sangkat idiots is a fool.
And that might go up the chain...

Another night, another rule.
Tonight, all restaurants on Street 172 were suddenly ordered to close, apparently because they sell alcohol and thus are now considered "bars".
Why are these new 'rules' always suddenly announced and immediately enforced at night? Is it because the incompetent idiots first have to drink a few before they have the courage to announce and implement?
And why are these rules not announced centrally, officially, in time? Oh wait, we're in the Kingdom of WONDER, although I think it should be re-branded: the Kingdom of WOODEN-HEADS.

172 was hit pretty hard early last year with the same thuggish mentality lead by some Jonny2star who didn't quite understand what his pay grade allowed.

Hope this doesn't catch on around the city

Cops come, close place down on some unclear pretext, place pays cops tea money, place opens again, rinse and repeat.
So what would one pay? to get the cops the fuck out till next time? A grand? 200 to each pig? what's the rate? They come back to whoever pays the most?
I went down 172 on Wednesday evening. Bars were open and spilling out onto the street, no masks, no social distancing, apparently no effort to keep to the 10 person limit. There has already been positive cases amongst the expat community there. Muppets got their comeuppance.
Total bullshit. I was there that night and 172 was almost dead as it has been over the past weeks. Unless you're maybe talking of The Big Easy, as that bar tends to get overcrowded and disregard rules. I didn't pass that one on the night mentioned, but the rest of the street was as I described: almost dead.1984 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 05, 2021 1:38 pmI went down 172 on Wednesday evening.
