Kep with children
Kep with children
I want to move to Kep. But not sure about how child friendly it is. Especially with regard to good schools. Anybody on here living in Kep? What do you do with friends? And school?
Pleasant enough for a weekend escape but a boring shithole if you stay longer than 72 hours.

Kampot doesn’t have much for kids, maybe one or two good schools, so Kep would be much worse. Personally I get bored shitless after a couple hours in Kep.
There’s also nothing to do for kids, apart from sorts or that dire Nellys Farm, that isn’t a farm unless you count the dogs and cats as farm animals. It’s just some shitty house with knackered toys.

there are only local Cambodian schools, nothing other than the beach for kids<
Even kampot has not much more but does have 2 decent primary schools
With western kids, i'd say dont move here, unless you home school and are very involved with ur kids
i know a few families with young kids and they all are planning, as soon as the kids are secondary age, sending them off to their own country

Isn't there an "International" school in Kep? Used to be a place called Kep International School if I recall correctly, was where all the Foreigners in Kep, and many from Kampot, sent their kids.
I'm not a negative person, I encourage people all the time...it's usually to f**k off! But, whatever.

I had a former staff member who taught swimming as a side hustle for an international school in Kep area - or so I understood at the time.

Yes, there is... Quiet place in back of the administrative district not far from the hill... I believe they are a primary school only...

Personally, I think Kep would be a great choice if you have a family. The place is clean and quiet by comparison with many other towns... If you like walking and cycling and swimming, it's the best. You can find little houses nestled in the trees there if you are lucky... But homes big enough for a family, that's another question...
Siem Reap has a couple of international schools that go up to high school with IB type systems, too. Seems like many foreigners are living in Siem Reap.
Besides the two regular international schools, I was surprised to see a new school pop up... This does primary up to secondary grade 8... Rudolf Steiner inspired school, and the fees are outlined clearly...

It's not a safe place in the long run. Tricksters abound, and that gets a lot easier in the countryside. If you own land and it is transferable, use extra caution.

Unless you have plenty of money to spend and can fly in and out of the country as you please. Made a good spread and kept many family members happy. Then you are safe.

Especially if you're a French dude who can cut off his own head, jam it into a suitcase, put your kids in a car, and then drive the car into a pond because life is sad.
I'm a million years old. I have wife and children. I don't hang out in girly bars, or bars in general. I will probably miss restaurants perhaps. But whatever, I just want to go to the beach, take walks in the national parks.

You will miss places to have a meal unless ur into khmer food or Italian
nice walk around the mtn on the new paved road
