If the photo is any guide, the roof looks a shocker.
Looking at the kitchen, I can just imagine someone storming out of that door while carrying hot oil or boiling water to the opposite counter.
Oh wait... is that a toilet?

If behind that door is a toilet, then this statement is a lie. Western style requires at least two doors between toilet and kitchen.Completely renovated in a Western style

Australian houses generally don't have bathrooms directly off the living room. Also, traffic through the living room is discouraged in good designs.
The rule is intended to prevent toilets directly adjacent to the kitchen. In the eighties I bought a new house which had a second toilet in the laundry which was adjacent to the kitchen separated by a sliding door. It's not a pleasant experience when some visitor decides to use that toilet for a crap while cooking. I think the next owner removed that toilet.
Yes, it relates to hygiene to stop particles of your shit from landing on your food preparation surfaces. It's a requirement in the UK too.

I didn't think the doors would be a challenge. It actually looked pretty good for PP apartment. Now that it's sold, do you mind telling us it's location? (roughly speaking, don't need the door number.)
