I always thought it was more of a lack of altitude and/or daily thermal variation problem than know how even if I doubt locals take off the wrong sex plants as they should.Jep wrote:I bought a full kilo of it in a big shopping bag at Kratie market for 2 dollars in 2001.pharmacambodia wrote:Felgerkarb wrote:A lot of bullshit in that book. But, I used to see weed in Russian Market in 1990 at a buck a kilo. Ditch weed, but still weed.
2008 it was only available from one of the tobacco women there, the other stopped selling it.
The price was unfortunately much higher than before. Blame the dolphins.
The price has skyrocketed since then, but the quality remains the same.Ditch weed.
Im blind as to why across the border Thailand and up in Laos the weed grown outdoors as good as skunk. Export Quality.
I heard a rumour 16y/ago Cambodia's finest is not for sale but exported. Utter crap.Poor buggers cant even grow opium.

[quote="Lucky Lucan"]Of course they can't grow opium, it isn't the right climate.
Rubbish. Opium poppy can grow in a wide range of climates.
Even 14.000 miles south of the GT.

Given that the world's largest crop of LEGAL opium poppies is grown in Tasmania, Australia, it is a very climate tolerant poppy indeed.

I was referring to Cambodia. Poppy seeds don't germinate too well at temperatures above 20°, and it's very rare for the temperature here to drop below that. I'm not sure why some of you can't understand that different plants thrive in different climates, and that elevation can also have a large bearing on the way plants grow. There's a good reason why there aren't giant plantations of opium poppies and coca plants here.Lucky Lucan wrote:Of course they can't grow opium, it isn't the right climate.
