Although the Cajon isn't widely regarded as being one of Cambodia's traditional instruments - lacking the fine carving and designs noted in the royal instruments, they must have been playing the wooden box for as long as Cambodia has existed. It's a poor man's instrument. Its unique sound is causing a resurgence in popularity in both Cambodia and Vietnam.
