"I'm from originally from Koh Kong but I didn't train in Phnom Penh. I was training in Jeeden Koh Kong but I want increase my training. So I went to Buriram and found a club. Buriram is where khmer live and they only speak khmer. My teacher is Khmer-Buriram, born and raised there but his father is originally from Battambang. The style I learn from him is Khmer style. That is what teacher told me directly." Then Sivuttha went on saying that "I was only for training in Buriram for 3 years. I was 19 years old in (2500 buddhist year) 1956. I went and fought around Thailand."
In the video he gave away the name of the fighters he fought in Thailand but he fought guys from Surin.
I hope that helps cause I can roughly translate on what he is saying.
I do apologize if I sound harsh in one of the thread cause I thought you are Khmer and you know the language. I'm a first generation Cambodian-American but my family is from Battambang living outside the city. So I pretty much understand what khmer people are saying but I can't read or write the language because how difficult it is. If I speak khmer, I might sound funny because of my american accent. So if I ever post a video, next time I'll give a heads up for the non-speaking Khmer and roughly translate.
On the side note: Famous fighter Eh Phuthong is from the same province as Mr.Tep Sivuttha. Koh Kong province is a hotspot for fisherman to go out into the sea and fish.
If I say "Pradal Serey" it literally means "free fighting" cause the word "Pradal" or "Dal" means "fight" or "fighting" and "Serey" or "See-serey" which means "Free or freedom".
