Koh Kong to Sattahip - how would you do it?

Last time I did this it was a bit of a hassle because 'everybody' was going to Bangkok or Pattaya and preferred gung-ho long distance bus rides to get the journey over with.

Myself I dislike any transport other than boat or train so break up all flights and bus rides into at least teo pieces.

Last time it wasn't so convenient - all those Thai bus stations way out of town was one factor. I broke up my trip in Trat even though Chantaburi would've been closer to half-way. I think it had something to do with no buses going where I wanted to go or when. Or maybe it was the route the bys took. In any case getting from KKG to Sattahip took me twice as long as I expected it would.

I welcome hearing how forum members do the trip - from the Cambodian border to party central.

I have social and transport reason to be going to Sattahip instead of Pattaya - a friend lives closer to Utapao airport.
