Didn't know where to post this, but I couldn't stop laughing while reading it so thought I'd share.
Hi,
Applied for a partnership visitor visa a few weeks ago and flat out declined.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Thanks you for your application for a visitor visa-Partnership.
Our decision on your application we have declined your application for a visitor visa because you do not meet the requirements set out in visitor visa immigration instructions.
Partnership v3.15An applications for temporary visas based on partnership must meet partnership requirements. An important aspect for meeting partnership requirements is that the relationship is genuine, stable and likely to endure as defined in E4.5.25, E4.5.30and E4.5.5.
We have completed our assessment of your application and taken into account all information and evidence provided by you and we are unsatisfied that you have demonstrated that your relationship is genuine stable and likely to endure.
ln assessing your application we have noted the following
You are your supporting partner have never been living together.
You are your supporting partner have spent very limited time together.
We consider that your relationship in its infancy your relationship is primarily long distance as you have physically met once and spent only about 12 days with each other. lt appears that your supporting partner has only spent holidays in Thailand and has never lived with you before

I am a New Zealander and my girlfriend is Thai. I thought we should have no trouble getting a visitor visa and then live together in New Zealand to build up the living together evidence for a work/residence visa. We met in January and only spent 12 days together but since then have maintained contact through email and Skype every day. I thought we would at least meet the genuine relationship requirement as we have met in person and our partnership is exclusive and we have maintained our relationship.
Originally I was going to apply for a general Visitor visa for her but I thought best to be honest and tell them that we want to live together. Now I cannot apply for a general Visitor visa because that would be declined due to intention as we have already been declined on the partnership visa.
The only option I can see is for me to go to Thailand and live with her for a few months to build up more evidence and then try again in 6 or so months time. I do not really want to live there as I have work commitments here in New Zealand but I see no other option...
We have already waited six months to apply for this visa and it looks like we will have to spend at least another six months apart before we can try again.
It is really annoying that two people who love each other and want to have a future together encounter problems such as this. I was sure we would at least be given 6 months to live in New Zealand together to build up more evidence.
I understand INZ concerns about fraud, etc, but this is a genuine relationship.
Any ideas on what actions I could take next so that we can be together. Would be interested to hear if anyone has any similar stories that had a positive outcome.
