Not the best place to be I agree.
However he is a classic example of a naive/thick foreigner living abroad. Expect locals with a grudge to pull dirty tricks. Don't make it easy for them by not following immigration law. He'd gone beyond 40 days overstay on his visa already...

Among many misfortunes, he got stuck with Burmese inmates. The Thais don't really like them on principle and because they have taken over a lot of jobs in Thailand. (There's a reason.) So the lad got treated like the Burmese, you know, the ones who always get charged with murder and other bad things they had nothing to do with.

Sounds miserable, and most likely half a story.

Horrible circumstances that I wouldn't wish on anyone, but compared to a Philippine jail, those photos look absolutley posh, hygenic and spacious.

I was looked up in various 'correction' centres in thailand ( krongplem, sai khow) yes they could be a little bit crowded, but nothing like the IDC in bangkok. But I loved it, met & befriended some of the most honest, respectful thais I've ever met. In sai khow we had a inter nationality football tournament. I was in the khemer/falang team, when we played against the guards team we went in hard & a few were taken off nursing injuries, but all in good spirit. The katoeys were cheerleaders on the touchline complete with homemade pompoms. I always found the guards to be cheerful & respectful. Great times
Somebody's has watched Adam Sandler's awful remake of originally awful The Longest Yard movie too many times.hornet555 wrote:I was looked up in various 'correction' centres in thailand ( krongplem, sai khow) yes they could be a little bit crowded, but nothing like the IDC in bangkok. But I'm glad you loved being in jail. Nice to hear that "the most honest and respectful people" are in Thai prisons.

OP,
I thought you were referring to your past ...
Oh, you're a criminal, not a Marine ...
