Both true. Khmer usually worse than Viets.
But many, many more Viets than Khmer, so you're odds go up meeting a bad, drunken one. Sorry.
Seen a few Viet accidents. THEN they slow down ...
Sacrifice to the god of road mayhem first, THEN they respect Him ...

Don't know about Dong Hoi, but I was in Hoi An for Tet last year and it was really nice. Cold though, bring a warm jacket.horace wrote:Dong Hoi seems like a good good choice. Any views , opinions, advice on this choice?
Cheers

Have been in central Vietnam for over a month now and as my American brother would say " I have climated" . Not worried unless temps drop below 14c . I had 16c at night in the mountains,no worries, no socks ,rain jacket over t shirt enough.
Got to say btw loving this lifestyle and Vietnam.

k440, something to do when you're pissed.
come to my mates new hostel. nhon hai village, near Quy Nhon. Central cost. on FB etc. stunning and cheap.
Expect hotel prices to quadruple+.
Stay away from bia hoi joints..
If you can't help yourself and find it cool to sit on small plastic chairs whilst sucking on cheap draft beer as you entertain drunken local patrons with a "cheers" every 10 seconds, then just beware of the sound of two glasses being smashed together.
It doesn't take much for a once friendly local to turn nasty on the Yank who refused to acknowledge his "cheers" (Vo) for the 20th fucking time.
If you do hear or see the smashing of glasses together then, run, Forrest, run.. or blood will flow and most likely it will be the blood of the foreigner.
Take care. Local memories run long and deep during Tet.

Was in Quy Nhon back in November, one of my favourite places so far. However, I am in Hue now and heading north albeit very slowly as this wet n cold weather doesn't make for cycling fun.banlung wrote:come to my mates new hostel. nhon hai village, near Quy Nhon. Cheers for the imput though.

Sorry, I was throwing a blanket over every foreigner by saying Yank.horace wrote:^^ What makes you think I am an American?
Most numb-nutted, drunken, wanna-be VC will think any pale-faced punter is a Yank during Tet.
