BANGKOK (AP) — The Ferrari driver who allegedly slammed into a motorcycle cop, dragged him along the road and then sped away from the mangled body took just hours to find, as investigators followed a drip, drip, drip trail of brake fluid up a street, down an alley, and into the gated estate of one of Thailand's richest families.
The prosecution of Red Bull heir Vorayuth "Boss" Yoovidhya, however, has been delayed for close to five years. The times when Vorayuth has been called in on charges, he hasn't shown up, claiming through his attorney that he was sick or out of the country on business. And while statutes of limitations run out on key charges this year, it's been widely assumed that he's hiding, possibly abroad, or living a quiet local life, only going out in disguise.

Thailand’s Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha said today that he is not satisfied with the way the Red Bull heir’s hit-and-run case has been handled by the police and public prosecutors and promised to take action, once he receives the report from the independent fact-finding panel headed by Vicha Mahakhun.
He made the remarks after delivering a speech at an event commemorating the 74th anniversary of the founding of Bangkok Post newspaper, at the Centara Grand at Central Plaza Lat Phrao Hotel on Thursday morning.
The Prime Minister said that public interest in the Red Bull scion’s case shows the importance of the media in Thai society.
“This is the reason why I believe the media in Thailand must be independent and strong,” he said, adding that the hit-and-run case is challenging the justice system and public trust in the entire system of the Thai state.
“Hence, my position on the Red Bull heir case is that I am not OK with several issues which are not clear. I want transparency and I will follow this case closely,” said the Prime Minister.

https://www.bangkokpost.com/thailand/ge ... case-quitsDeputy Attorney-General Nate Naksuk, who dismissed the reckless driving charge against Red Bull scion Vorayuth Yoovidhya, has tendered his resignation.
In his retirement letter, Mr Nate defended his decision to drop the charge against Vorayuth by citing that the decision was above board. As the Office of the Attorney-General faced mounting pressure from society over his decision, he wanted to show his responsibility by resigning to protect the image of the organisation, a source at the Office of the Attorney-General said on Tuesday.
