Two Great Docs
Two Great Docs
Watched these twon on Netflix over the weekend ;
Last Days in Vietnam
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3279124/
Riveting footage of the Northern Vietnamese push down to Saigon and the US Embassies evacuation of foreigners and locals. Truly captivating watching I thought. There is a scene towards the end where Viet helicopter pilot picks up his immediate family in his ( huge ) Chinook and flys out into the ocean to try and find a ship. What happens next.....fucking hell Insane.
McCullin
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2354205/
This dude has been everywhere and seen it all. Africa, Asia, Europe. Uprisings, riots, massacres, wars . He would have been an interesting person to sit next to at dinner that is for damn sure. Some of the footage....well.....intense.
Enjoy.

Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.

Cheers, it's pretty funny being called a potato head by you of all people.
Anyway, must check those out, I read McCullin's autobiography years back and he is quite an amazing character.

He's a real geezer from the hard streets of the UK. There are some great montages of life in the 50s. Teddy boys, lumps of coal....all the good stuff.Lucky Lucan wrote:Cheers, it's pretty funny being called a potato head by you of all people.

If you like documentaries you should watch "Finders Keepers." It's about two rednecks in a dispute over a human foot. It's a great film, one might say it's amazing.

Got "Last Days", "McCullin" and "Finders Keepers". Cheers for the recommendations.

let me know what you think of them
LAst Days really was quite harrowing to watch. The sheer desperation of the Sthn Viets to escape was pretty mad. Scenes of them handing their babies over fences and across to ships etc. Pretty gut wrenching stuff. Keep an eye out for the Chinook scene. If that doesnt make your eyes pop out nothing will......
