Vietnam Tourist Visa Changes - June 2020
Not to scaremonger but more of a heads-up is that from June 2020 the Vietnamese government will reduce the maximum 3 month Tourist Visa to 1 month only.
There has been a review and new update to the law - how it will implemented is yet to be seen.
Their main aim is to stop the Chinese and other crime gangs who are setting up online scam businesses etc. This is one of the tools they have selected, how it will affect expats remains to be seen.

Dang chinamen.
They've already put paid to my Malaysia retirement plans. The whole region seems to be pulling up the drawbridge. VN used to give me a 1 year visa with very little hassle.
I think only about 150m of 'em has a passport too.

Cambodia may be following suit soon enough.

The Ministry of Interior on Tuesday said it had formed a working group to draft amendments to the Law on Immigration.
Its secretary of state Sok Phal told The Post that the amendments will strengthen the management of immigrants in line with the current situation.

Yes, I think there's a connection to the ''exodus'' after Cambodia banned online gambling from January 1st this year.

Cambodia’s beach resort of Sihanoukville, which saw a boom in investments in casinos and hotels from China since 2016, is suffering from the fallout of a mass exodus of Chinese after an online gambling ban came into force on January 1 this year.
Construction work and casino openings have come to an abrupt halt when Prime Minister Hun Sen unexpectedly announced in August last year that Cambodia would criminalise online gambling.
Of 72 casinos in the city, so far four have shut down and 23 have laid off employees, with more than 7,000 workers affected, according to Ministry of Labour officials.
And residents expect more to come as there were around 200 online gambling operators prior to the ban, employing more than 200,000 people.

Well it's really not a bad choice.
You can pop up to Spain, down to Mauritania, smoke your hashish etc.

Well, it's official. As of today the new big man at immigration has stopped all 2 month and 3 month tourist visas. Not yet known how much a 1 month extension will be but the thieving youn c#nts are currently charging $120 for 1 month through agents, even though it's $10 officially.

It seems Viets are the most affected. A whole lot of Chinese were deported over the past few years too, usually in large groups of 100 or more as opposed to the odd westerner who got down on their luck or too messed up.A report issued by the General Department of Immigration showed that as of July 17, last year, police had revoked 37,441 administrative documents held by 20,093 families. This involved a total of 69,871 people.
Ten nationalities were affected, most of them Vietnamese. The improper documents included ID cards, residence and family books.
