It seems the Rohingya people agree with me. They are shedding no tears for her.

I can remember watching a subtitled movie in Yangon a few years ago. The subtitles had a few words blurred out - it was obvious those words were Islam, Muslim, Allah and similar phrases. I remember thinking at the time it was very odd.
I asked a couple of local guys in the office about it the next day.
“We don’t like them,” they said. “We want to get rid of them.”
This came from a couple of highly educated local lawyers - the cream of society.

It just seems rather odd that they are hated by the absolute majority of Burmese yet they choose to stay?scobienz wrote: ↑Tue Feb 02, 2021 4:54 pmYes mate. You posted the same thing under your regular ID several months ago. It was as twattish then as it is now.Jumpjump wrote: ↑Tue Feb 02, 2021 3:00 pmThere is no such thing as rohingya, they a Bangladeshi and its time for them to go home.
The rohingya people have been settled in Rakhine area of western myanmar for over a thousand years, long before Bangladesh became a nation. To say they should sod off back to Bangladesh shows a stunning lack of historic understanding. Many of them - around 700,000 were forced to flee into Bangladesh for safety during 2016 and 2017.
Obviously live is better in Myanmar.

Not sure if the ire is as great amongst the Chin, Karen. Mon, Karenni, Kachin, Shan, Pa-O etc etc. Possibly the Arakanese, but they aren't fond of the Burmans either.

Should the Jews of Europe who have been hated and persecuted for centuries move too?
The Rohingya have been in that area since the days of the Silk Road. One theory is that they were converted to Islam by Arab traders doing business in SEA, with many of the traders remaining and becoming absorbed into their life and ethnicity. Either way, they have a perfect right to be there.

She's come across more like a member of the old boys club since getting her foot in the door anyway.

You hold people to very high standards. You can hear such views in Britain today.scobienz wrote: ↑Tue Feb 02, 2021 5:44 pm

You're part of the 1% why do you expect everybody else to think the way you do?
I'm not saying you are wrong just a very white Anglo-Saxon Protestant view on the world.
I don’t expect everyone to think the way I do.
But by the same token, why am I not allowed to criticise those who don’t think like I do if I find their worldview ignorant and bigoted? Should I be obliged to give them a pass.
Chauvinism and Xenophobia are key parts of Myanmar’s Theravada culture; it encourages a sense of racial and religious superiority among majority Burman Buddhists at the expense of minorities.
The Lady had the opportunity to address that. She didnt. In fact she did worse by not only refusing to condemn the violence but even defended it at the ICC.
Fuck them and fuck those who enable them. And fuck her.

That is fair enough. Personally I hold back judgement until I've got all the evidence in front of me and have a full understanding of a picture. Pretty fucking difficult nowadays with all the fake news.
The evidence of atrocities and displacement is already there. It is not disputed. It is not up for debate that a Rohingya are expressly excluded from political, civil and legal society. They are given no status. No education. Their villages were destroyed and thousands killed.
There is nothing to debate Fred. There are hundreds of thousands living in the world’s largest refugee camps across the border in Bangladesh, driven there by fear of attack and persecution.
If you want to wait for more evidence before making your mind up, then I wonder how high your threshold for evidence is.

Bwahahaha
actually, Europeans could (and many did) become Jews through conversion, so that kinda destroys your argument
Religion i snot in your DNA, it's a choice one makes and practices
You are possibly following the belief that they are Khazars. While this may be true for some of them originally, only a blind person would claim it for all of them
Your own family may be traced back thousands of years to Scandinavia, Britain or Europe. That doesn't make you a Swedish citizen.

That's kind of like saying romans were British( sons of Brutus) because some romans citizens were sons of Brutus.
Of course there was mixing but to claim Jews have a natural place in Europe is purely political.
