https://www.thaienquirer.com/25805/gove ... from-july/The government has agreed to reopen the resort island of Phuket to vaccinated international tourists with no quarantine from July 1, subject to the island’s own vaccine roll-out, the tourism authority said Friday.
...
According to the plan, at least 466,587 of Phuket’s population will need to receive two doses of a Covid-19 vaccine, meaning a total of 933,174 doses, with the first round beginning on April 15 and the second on May 15.
Foreign tourists coming to Phuket will need to show proof of vaccination, take a Covid-19 screening test at the airport, and activate the tracing application ThailandPlus.

no idea how, as less than 5,000 out of a little less than 500,000 have been vaccinated so far.

We'll have to see. I'd hate to have to drag this thread up in a few months after half the island's population chokes to death from the UK plague.
Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.
I doubt our aussie mates will be there before 2022.

I see your point, but, as we are seeing elsewhere, vaccination rates can skyrocket if there's both a push and a pull. Phuket is not a huge island, so a few large vaccination centres could get everybody done in a surprisingly short amount of time. You'd need the locals to be on board, but after a year of virtually no income whatsoever, I suspect they'd be pretty keen to do whatever it takes to bring the tourists back.Phuket2006 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 26, 2021 5:23 pmno idea how, as less than 5,000 out of a little less than 500,000 have been vaccinated so far.

Some considerations,
many of the hotels in Patong, Karon, Kata, Bang Tao have been closed for over a year>
ones elsewhere open are running on reduced staff.
SO they need get all the old employees to return ASAP and they need hire new staff as well.
I am more concerned about the huge numbers of thai's travelling from the provinces rather than the holiday tourists that have had their 2 shots.
Phuket has gone like 92 days with no infections
the number of 500,000 or so is registered phuket people, ( i am not sure that includes migrant laborers or expats living here)
Will wait an see how this plays out., as what airlines are going to fly direct into Phuket? Cant see people in a rush to come to phuket for what is traditionally the low/hot/rainy season.
But its a start i guess

Given today's infection rate herein Cambodia, I highly doubt tourism will revive in the region this year unless they get serious with the vax.

All fair points, apart from the last one - I doubt the low/high season definitions apply at the moment. You have loads of people itching for their Thailand fix, not to mention all the people that have been stuck in city-states like HK for over 12 months.Phuket2006 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 27, 2021 3:07 pmSome considerations,

Wow, that sounds terrible. How come you keep bigging up this ghost town?Phuket2006 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 27, 2021 3:07 pmSome considerations,

I dont live in those places,
Kamala is fantastic, 75% open ( only some hotels./restaurants closed)
The beach is amazing, clean and empty,
roads are empty of traffic.. no mini bus's, tuk tuks or big tour bus's clogging the road
eating out and grocery shopping is a breeze
its the nicest, most enjoyable i have seen in 35 years here, as long as ur not reliant on tourism for ur income
