Thanks.
Anyone had experience of the Visa and MasterCard debit cards that you pre-load with US$ and then use rhem to withdraw from ATM's around PP? Do the ATM's charge big fees for each withdrawal?

If you're American open an account with Charles Schwab. No fees and they will refund all your third party ATM charges.
If you're from the London area then I would definitely recommend opening an account with Metro Bank as they don't charge for overseas usage of their Mastercard debit or credit cards in ATMs. Nationwide Building Society's Visa debit card used to be fee-free too for overseas ATM use but alas no more. That just leaves the problem of working out what you might be charged by the Cambodian bank. I found that I was able to use my (UK) Metro Bank debit card to withdraw cash from SBC ATMs in Phnom Penh with no charge.barangdave wrote:If you're American open an account with Charles Schwab. Norwich and Peterborough have a zero fee card as well, but one account needs a min deposit of 500 a month, the other 5 transactions. Easy to do with internet banking, if a bit hard to remember, while you're not using it. Metro is the best offer though for sure if you're handy for the smoke.Cyclo wrote:If you're from the London area then I would definitely recommend opening an account with Metro Bank as they don't charge for overseas usage of their Mastercard debit or credit cards in ATMs. Nationwide Building Society's Visa debit card used to be fee-free too for overseas ATM use but alas no more. Re prepaid cards Travelex Globe (not the dollar or sterling card) is the best, it does alter the market rate by 1.5% but no ATM, issue or account fees. If you buy it through quidco you get 0.5% cashback on your initial topup.
ANZ Royal lets you choose if you've got a locally issued card.
Public Bank and SCB don't (locally issued cards) offer KHR.
