Problem with Wing
Things had been going too well with Wing...
Last Saturday lunchtime (around midday) I organized two wing payments for K44o writers out of PP. One was collected the next day with no problems but the other person didn't get around to collecting until this afternoon and was told that Wing payments are automatically cut off after a week and as this was 7 days and one hour precisely since the payment was organized, she couldn't have the money.
Wing then phoned me to say that they'd not paid out and I'd have to go into the office with my receipt to reorganize the payment and so we have another problem as I can't find the receipt. Obviously, if I'd been told in the first place about this 7 days cut off I'd have firstly kept the receipt safely to hand and secondly told the writer to get her dosh earlier.
All round, this is a bit shit as when they phoned me I confirmed the amount and the fact that yes, the person collecting was in SR and yes, that is her correct telephone number and yes, this is my correct telephone number and they still wouldn't give her the money.

There won't be a next time. I'll go back to using the money transfer that Capital Buses do. It's a scruffy, low-tech service but I've never had anybody at the other end not getting paid.dv8inpp wrote:Get lazy, take pictures of your receipts on your phone. Not much help now.

I was paid for page 3, but it was too risqué to run...Duncan wrote:And the back page posts, so I have been told.mynameisphil wrote:Wait, people get paid for those front page posts?

The 7-day rollback only affects 'Send Money Non-Wing' (Wei Luy Xpress) transactions - it's there because historically folks used to leave their 8-digit codes out for all to see and anyone could then use it to cash out - which happened, a lot. We tightened things up with the addition of the recipient phone number, so it is probably worth a review of the 7 day limit - out of curiousity KiR, how long would you normally expect a recipient to wait before cashing out? Would be good to know to throw into the pot when the review is made.
Please also note that is both sender & receiver have an account, sending money (i) is cheaper ($0.50 vs $1.50), (ii) there is no 7-day rule, it acts like a normal bank transfer from account to account and is instant.
Cheers
[edit: sorry the other reason why the money can't be cashed out is because it has 'rolled back' into the sending account (from our TTP store by the sound of it?), rather than sitting in suspense ready for any other WCX nationwide to invoke it. Sorry to go a bit technical, but it is beyond the folks in the store or others nationwide to do anything about as the code is now invalid and must be redone. If you have any trouble getting the money back or re-sent please let me know & I will sort it out for you - if you've got any details (phone #, amount, etc) you can share via PM let me know & I'll get the plebs to redo the transaction first thing.]

I can see why you might want to check if the payment hasn't been collected after a week. But really, after one week and 60 minutes she went to collect payment and I was phoned and said "yes, no problem, that's her phone number and obviously this is my phone number because I'm talking to to you now and saying there's not an issue here", yet still they were hard assed and insisted that the transaction was void.Spigzy wrote:The 7-day rollback only affects 'Send Money Non-Wing' (Wei Luy Xpress) transactions - it's there because historically folks used to leave their 8-digit codes out for all to see and anyone could then use it to cash out - which happened, a lot. Two suggestions:
1) Tell people at the point of sale that there is a seven day cut off point.
2) If your people then phone the customer who initiated the transaction on the number the customer gave and the customer says that everything is OK, then just pay out. .

Noted on 1) to confirm verbally, it is on the receipt paper but written in Khmer - wouldn't harm for WCXs to point it out also.
2) is not possible though - every cash transaction has an underlying electronic transaction; when a the WCX on the receiver side cashes out the dollars, their Wing account gets credited with an equal amount (so net effect is 0, they have less cash, but more Wing balance). In this instance though the account where that comes from no longer has the electronic funds as the transaction has expired automatically; that'd leave the WCX paying out with a hole in their Wing pocket (not so good!) I hate to give a technology problem as the answer, but that's the way it works - even when depositing & withdrawing, what is actually happening on Wing is a swap of cash for Wing balance, allowing funds to move quickly without moving a lot of cash around agents (bear in mind they are not Wing staff, only the head office belongs to Wing & is manned by Wing staff).
Still appreciate the feedback though, the more I think of the 7-day rule now we have tighter controls on withdrawals, the more absurd it seems. Will definitely get that changed.

Very classy replies from Spigzby. Listening to criticism, not getting defensive as so many other business owners do here, and calmly offering suggestions etc.
