I will be arriving in PP and need to open a bank account - I was thinking ABA. I will get a normal (E) visa at the Bavet land border.
After reading other posts on this matter, it seems as though a multiple entry (6 month+) visa will be required. Does anyone know if this is true? I don't to waste the one-month visa straight away by getting a 6 month etc, but I also need somewhere to put my cash so it is safe. Not a lot of money, but enough to be concerned about it getting nicked!
Cheers.
Open bank account with E visa (1 month) ?
You can deposit money into a Wing account just with your passport - easy to open an account/deposit/withdraw, 4,000 or so outlets nationwide in every province/district. No interest, but certainly safer than stuffing your money under the mattress.

Wing seems perfect for my needs right now. I've seen them all over the place before but never knew what it was.
Extending your visa won't 'waste' your 1 month entry visa. Extensions count from the end of your existing visa.muoi wrote:x I don't to waste the one-month visa straight away by getting a 6 month etc,
If you plan on being here long enough to need a 6m visa, just get it and do your banking. If not, follow Spigzy's advice.
It appears that one can not wire transfer money to Wing from overseas and can not wire transfer out. Am I wrong? Thanks

why not just carry an atm card? no reason to carry massive amounts of Cash
"We are turning into a nation of whimpering slaves to Fear—fear of war, fear of poverty, fear of random terrorism, or suddenly getting locked up in a military detention camp on vague charges of being a Terrorist sympathizer." HST
Seems you have to carry massive amounts of cash to fund the account. Can not see that they handle wire transfers.
Possible to wire transfer from Kasikorn Bank (Thailand) to Wing and I believe another deal was done in South Korea recently. I'd say it is a "Watch this space" area as those overseas options increase. In country you can also move money from ANZR to Wing via internet banking & ATM - although I think you're not going to open an account there with just a 1 month e-visa.
