Visa ATM fees
Canadia charges $5 to use a foreign Visa debit card now, it used to be free. Are there any other banks that do the service for free or less than $5?

I don't think there are less that 5$ for ATM fees. This one is also recommended by Lonely Planet for this "less expensive" fees.

ABA is $4 for withdrawals of $100 or so. I think the fee is higher if you withdraw more

I am using Maybank regularly with my European Visa and have never been charged anything.
I read a similar story a few months ago. So I went to the Maybank Tower. That is the new building No. 43, Preah Norodom Blvd (41). Could not use any of the ATM's. They were not linked to the systems that are connected to foreign banks. I am not describing this well but what I mean is there were none of those stickers you normally see on other machines. I have a HSBC Premier debit card, could not get any cash.aem wrote:I am using Maybank regularly with my European Visa and have never been charged anything.

What happened to Vattanac for Visa? Used to be free.
Also, Canadia during banking hours inside will run your card (the old fashioned way, with the sliding carbon copy credit slip doohickey, I think) if your "cash advance" is $500 or more. Cheaper than the ATM fees, think they were free a while ago.

Why do people think such a service should be free? The convenience of leaving your cash in your home account and being able to withdraw it from any machine around the world is well worth a few bucks expense. Enough with the whining.

Nobody said it should be free, but it's hardly surprising that people might want to use a service that is free or cheap.alanclarke72 wrote:Why do people think such a service should be free? Only a fool would not look for the best value,
Combined bank transaction fees can take a high percentage of the withdrawal amount.
