Cash advancing Visa credit card in Hanoi
Cash advancing Visa credit card in Hanoi
Anyone know where I can go to cash advance an HSBC credit card using an over the counter POS swipe machine that allows much greater advances than the retardedly restrictive atms ? I'm thinking a forex exchange maybe but can't find anything online...

ANZ and HSBC have larger withdrawal limits. I also believe that you can go to any Vietcombank to withdraw larger amounts.ricecakes wrote:Anyone know where I can go to cash advance an HSBC credit card using an over the counter POS swipe machine that allows much greater advances than the retardedly restrictive atms ? Tell me about it. The banking system is absolutely useless. Now consider that it is heaps better than when I first arrived 20+ years ago....ricecakes wrote:Sitting in HSBC right now.
They're useless.
7.5m MAX out of ATM twice per day only
Cannot do larger over counter.

Yesterday, the maximum withdrawal amount from the HSBC ATM here in Danang was 5.6M VND (about $250) with a 112K fee. I would assume that it is the same in Hanoi. The crappy Vietnamese banks usually have a 2M VND limit.
Mr. Ricecakes, if you are planning to do business in Hanoi in the future I suggest you switch over to Citibank. Their ATM max withdrawal is 8M VND with a 60K fee. The Citibank building is located on Trang Tien Street at Ngo Quyen, and they have the cleanest toilets in town. Citibank are also in Saigon but unfortunately not in Danang.

The fee for 7.5m HSBC cash advance was 200k
Really only initially opened HSBC as they have good internet banking services with easy international transfers. Then I needed the visa for business travel..And the nightmare begins.
They've put me on to some financial agent who can advance 100m for 1.5m in fees.

Just walked out of the coffee shop with a wedge of cash that would choke a dozen donkies. The girls NOT work for VP bank . I believe they have a souvenir shop and do this as a side business. a guy turned up with a swipe machine and a bag of cash and they charged me 2% not 1.5 but I'm happy with that . Before I left they said that if HSBC call centre contacted me about the large transactions I should say I was shopping and not cash advancing. Assuming the notes aren't all fake...I tHink I just made a very handy contact !!

Hang on a cotton picking minute.
You're saying you've let some random hot chicks swipe your visa card?

Them spending money on getting you new teeth, skin treatment, a bit of a tummy tuck and cutting out that extra chin you have all for 2% commission on your withdraws.
Never going to happen.
I refuse to go out with nothing more than a whimper followed by a small farting sound and a shit stain on my bed sheets..
Just thought I'd share that with you.
