Expect the 0.1% to fight tooth and nail against a system that reveals their theft and ultimately holds them to account.
The only reason the American government hasn't banned Bitcoin already, is because, if they tried, they would fail, which would show everyone just how good a system it really is and spur mass adoption. In every single instance where governments have tried, they've failed.

It's lots of fun to watch; a completely manipulated market.

Bitcoin is the investment choice of people that possess no knowledge of investments.
There are big holders who know exactly what they are doing and making a fortune every few days. But they have bots that do it all for them.Starving Pelican wrote: ↑Tue Jul 07, 2020 6:02 pmBitcoin is the investment choice of people that possess no knowledge of investments.

Actually, bitcoins are a lot like drunken white chicks.
They look like they’re going to crash at any minute, and if they do, you’ll definitely get screwed.

Doesn't matter really.
Should have bought Bitcoin.
Did you here about the Indian guy who bought a million dollars worth of Bitcoin when they were at $200?

It's true it is a completely manipulated market. And I agree, if Joe Blogs zooms in on the bitcoin price and try guess short term movements he will always loose to the bots at the end of the day, just like you will always loose at the casino if you average it out.
But the fundamental reasons that allow the price to be manipulated (at its current market cap) are the same reasons that it will eventually become king in value storage. Freedom, decentralisation and built in protection from state interference.
All other markets are manipulated, except they are manipulated by the state with QE, base rates, fiscal stimulus, state purchase of shares etc. As the market cap increases in Bitcoin so does the size of the holding required to move the market, and so does the level of sophistication required make it a surprise.
With all the printing that's been going on to fund these lock downs, how much inflation does everyone think is coming down the pipe? I don't know either, but I'm sure it's a shit load and I feel quite comfortable being in asset classes that stand to benefit from that in the medium term.
Long term though, it's foolish not to be in Bitcoin. At the current price you are being offered a 20/1 odds on a bet that at the very minimum is evens.

I often hear people say investing in Bitcoin now is like investing in Google or XXX in the early 2000's. But that's a bad analogy because Google is a company with a product(s) and Bitcoin is a protocol.
A better analogy would be to imagine that HTTP (another protocol) was tokenised and you could travel back to 1995 to invest in it. Without the benefit of hindsight, the proposition is exactly the same:
Internet 1995:
1. Will the internet ecosystem completely dominate the future transfer of information?
2. If 1 is true, will HTTP (which already has first mover advantage) still be the base protocol of the internet ecosystem?
Blockchain 2020:
1. Will blockchain ecosystem completely dominate the future transfer of value?
2. If 1 is true, will Bitcoin (which already has first mover advantage) still be the base protocol of the blockchain ecosystem?
In 1995, people with the technical capacity to understand the mechanics of the internet already knew that 1 was a forgone conclusion, and 2 was highly likely.
Today in 2020, people with the technical capacity to understand the mechanics of blockchain tech already know that 1 is a forgone conclusion, and 2 is highly likely.
