Just a follow up to a previous post.
After posting about buying Bitcoin from an ATM in HCMC. I decided to check there real rates today. They quote just under 10%.
I put in 500 k vnd and had to wait about an hour for the transaction to be confirmed. I had read it was supposed to be instant.
The real rate they charge was a miniscule under 20%!!.
I still stand by my advice that if you just want a quick way to start learning, it's not so bad. It basically costs about $5 and takes an hour to open an anonymous bank account where only you have the keys to the vault.

As David Byrne may well have said "In the future, one Satoshi will be worth one Dollar"
Considering that there are a million Satoshi in one Bitcoin, that means every coin will be worth a million dollars.

There are 100 million satoshi in one bitcoin. Are you deliberately low-balling Bitcoin's potential, or do you just not know your shit?kungfufighter wrote: ↑Fri Jul 03, 2020 9:44 amAs David Byrne may well have said "In the future, one Satoshi will be worth one Dollar"

Venezuela: UK court blocks Maduro’s attempt to access $1 billion in gold (Sparky1)
The High Court in London ruled against the cash-strapped Maduro government on Thursday, with judge Nigel Teare saying that Guaidó had been “unequivocally recognized” as president of Venezuela by the UK government.
If you don't hold it, you don't own it.
Should have bought Bitcoin.

If a government was to invest massively in bitcoin, how would that government be able to stop officials from running away with that untraceable wealth?

What, like they do with fiat? Off-shore banking, Panama papers, Paradise papers, the LIBOR scandal, gold, silver, and now Bitcoin price manipulation, buy backs, CDSs, MBSs, VIEs, IRSs, derivatives, derivatives, derivatives, etc etc etc.
95% of all market trading is done by robots with the banks putting their servers as close to the exchanges as possible, companies like Robinhood frontrunning, fuck me, I could go on and on and on.
Cut out the middleman is rule number one.
So, you're asking what happens if someone steals your sovereign wealth in Bitcoin, after someone has just stolen someone's sovereign wealth in gold. So, maybe there isn't too much difference on the face of it,
Which is why the best sovereign wealth is your own (unless you're part of the 1%).
if you don't hold it, you don't own it. And I'm not including fiat in that, as Germany, Venezuela, and Zimbabwe are a testament to.
Interestingly, the Bitcoin confiscated by the Bulgarian government from a criminal gang that were mining Bitcoin, would have paid off its entire national debt.
Unfortunately, it seems to have disappeared - likely through government corruption. But, remember all transactions are held on everybody's decentralised ledger aka the Blockchain. So, it's only a matter of time before everyone knows who stole it.
