Opening an ABA account ; no visa / no address ?
Opening an ABA account ; no visa / no address ?
Right....I have had it with ANZR.
Can I open an ABA account if I am in PP with just a passport ?
I just went through the ABA online application process and it asks for an address so I just put in one of my old ones.
It then spits out a reference number and says go to a branch with a passport. Anyone know if they want to see address / lease and / or a current non-tourist visa ?
tks

As of last year nothing was required, just the passport.
I know people who have opened accounts with ABA with only a tourist visa, will all depend on the customer service agent and or branch...if at first you don't succeed, try, try again.

Ya. Last time I went a few years back, visa and lease or no chance. May have to try a few places.

If you have any dramas opening an account with them by yourself, which you shouldn't, then you can open a joint account with your wife.
Make sure you sign up for their internet banking and mobile app also, and get yourself one of their visa debit cards.

You can set it up so that both parties signatures are required to make any withdrawals in branch, apply for only one ATM/Debit card and make sure only you know the PIN, change the Internet banking/mobile app passwords so that only you have access.
Think outside the box guys!

Technically no you cannot, but it depends who serves you - most of the staff have no idea what the required procedures are. I was given 3 different sets of requirements from 3 people. I finally opened an account with just a passport.....

I did exactly a same. No problems. You are able to manage your account and send some amount to your w/gf card.PSD_Kiwi wrote:She doesn't need to have access to it.jackrossi wrote:gavinmac wrote:Nooooooo!PSD_Kiwi wrote:I then you can open a joint account with your wife.

Took an Aussie mate/business partner into ABA on Monivong 3 weeks ago to open an account. He was on an ordinary E, 1 month visa having arrived the day before.
No problems. Took about 45 mins to do, including setting up mobile banking on his phone. He had a phone number and used my PP address.
