covid-19 stocks
Started buying shares in 2 covid-19 screening/testing comoanies yesterday. Co Diagnostics CODX Listed on the Nasdaq at about $3 a share is in the process of fast tracking a test to market. Novacyt S.A. on the Paris market(Alnov) might be a better play right now as it's ultimately faster and cheaper than other alternatives . Already receiving orders as well On the cure side both Regeneron and Gillead have been making progress on this front Edit to add. Both issues are up-the latter(Novacyt S.A.)up 84.55% today.

The US government needs testing kits, so you are making a good bet. A global health expert from Harvard said tonight that the Federal reaction has been a fiasco, his word. Doctors do not have testing kits, hence no tests being made. The reported number of infections is about two thousand in USA, I think he said, but he estimates it to be five to ten thousand. It will double in six days, then double again.

I did well on CODEX (bought@$3-put in a sell of half my shares at$4.50 and they sold 2 hours later;sold some more at$19). I parlayed some of that money into VIR (vaccine) at $19 a share and sold half a couple days later for $69. I took some small loses on hospital supply company LAKE and vaccine in tablet maker VAXART . i have been accumulating shares of AYTU under $2.00 a share the last 2 weeks. Rapid Antibody testing company(2-10 minute results) already in use in the USA in Telluride and elsewhere. Previously used in Hong Kong.khmerhit wrote: ↑Fri Mar 13, 2020 7:10 amThe US government needs testing kits, so you are making a good bet. I checked out aytu. At first they look good but digging a bit, apparently they've just got a distribution agreement for a Chinese testing kit?

AYTU will be the first bio-tech company to begin distribution of this type of test. Antibody or serology testing will be desperatly needed to determine community infection rates particularly as it relates to those previously infected and asymptomatic spread. This test is fast, proven and allows for point of care testing. Here is a bit more on why it is so important.: "The test administered by Dao is different from the most common COVID-19 detection procedure called polymerase chain-reaction testing, or PCR. That test uses a cotton swab, like a giant Q-tip, to collect samples from the nose or throat, then examines the genetic material for the virus’ specific markers.
Most testing in the U.S. is done this way, and the 16 labs that have received emergency use authorization from the Food and Drug Administration are supplying PCR tests.
The other, called a serology test like the one administered by Dao, checks the blood for antibodies that battle the coronavirus and is more common in China, Singapore and South Korea.
“It’s a good tool for people with no symptoms or minimum symptoms who may be unaware they have been infected,” Dao said.
Each test has its advantages and disadvantages, experts say. The blood test can spot antibodies in people who had mild symptoms and have recovered — valuable to public health officials trying to assess how widely the virus has truly spread — while PCR tests detect only active disease in the nose and throat. PCR tests can’t determine if a person had a mild case of COVID-19 and then recovered.
But both tests can miss the virus if taken too early. PCR tests can produce false negatives if taken before the viral load gains sufficient mass; and blood tests can give false negatives because it can take the body a week or so to produce enough antibodies to register.
The Centers for Disease Control said initial work to develop a blood test in the U.S. is underway, but that will take some time. There’s an important public health role for serology testing, but it’s different than PCR’s role, said Philip L. Felgner, director of UC Irvine’s Vaccine Research and Development Center and Protein Microarray Laboratory and Training Facility.
“There are a lot of infected people who are asymptomatic out there spreading the virus, and that’s what’s causing this outbreak,” Felgner said. “We don’t have enough PCR tests to detect sick people right now, much less asymptomatic people, so asymptomatic people are passing the infection on to their close contacts.
“We need a test that we can use on healthy people to find out who is a spreader of this virus, and that’s where the antibody test would be useful. It has a completely different purpose. If a person is trying to sell the antibody test for clinical diagnosis, it’s definitely not approved. It’s not for that purpose.”
Felgner is working on research using serology testing on blood samples from Washington state, where COVID-19 first erupted in the United States, to determine how widespread the infection really is in the community.
“What we need to do with the serological tests is survey locations to find out how much intensity of the virus is in an environment,” Felgner said. “If we go into New York City right now and just measure average people in the community, their antibody responses are going to be elevated compared to someplace like Nebraska, where nothing seems to be occurring.
“That’s what the serological test is good for. It doesn’t need to be FDA approved — it’s a public health tool to determine how much is circulating in the environment.” https://www.ocregister.com/2020/03/25/g ... lood-test/

Dumped 1/3 of my shares today and will rid myself of the rest tomorrow. Henry Schein (HSIC) will be a big player in Q covid tests. They will be able to do serious volume in the US. The US alone is going to need 100's of millions of tests over the next couple years. AYTU ended up being a real turd. Thanks for pointing me in that direction Logos.

"I don't care what the people are thinking, i ain't drunk i'm just drinking"
Good call with HSIC. They just reported excellent Q1 results, on top of beating expectations for Q4 last year. They're a serious player with strong results in a Covid19 market. I loaded up as the stock hasn't reflected that yet, I'd be disappointed if it returned under 20%Sonic1 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 31, 2020 9:15 amDumped 1/3 of my shares today and will rid myself of the rest tomorrow. I bought back all the CODEX shares I sold earlier when it fell to $8 a share and bought more VIR when it dropped to $28. Codex test has been fast, %100 accurate and inexpensive. I think the health sector is a good place to be w/o the pandemic. Good hospital software for example like Cerner.logos wrote: ↑Thu May 07, 2020 10:38 pmGood call with HSIC.
