Have you tried multiple transactions? Take the card out after first withdrawal then do it again. Usually works for me up to 1k at ABA.

If you have a regular account you can request to raise the daily limit from $1,000 to $3,000.starkmonster wrote: ↑Sat May 09, 2020 9:05 amIf you have a Platinum account with ABA you can take $10,000 per day.
My account has a daily limit of $1,000 Aus. and Cannot be changed, so depending on the exchange rate Aus-US $ I am limited to the amount that I can withdraw and am getting screwed by the exchange rate and transfer fees both ways, ABA charge a percentage of the transfer not sure what that is now. MB bank were good but have a poor service record.

I'm stunned at long term expats who don't open a local account and continue to lift money on their foreign credit/debit card every few days.
Transferwise now operate in Cambodia so you can now transfer funds and the net rate (including all fees) is less than one percentage point lower than the current live rate.

I do have numerous local accounts, for instance ABA charges 9% transfer fees plus, every transfer has a transfer fee both here and in the country of origin, usually $5 per transaction this can add up to a substantial amount when you are doing this on a monthly basis, Ok just checked out Transferwise exchange rate no better than I can get from any ATM also transfer rate more than local banks.

I have no idea where you get the 9% transfer fee from. It doesn’t reflect reality. Here is the information from ABA’s website

ABA doesn't charge anything like 9%.stevecz wrote: ↑Sun May 10, 2020 12:49 pmI do have numerous local accounts, for instance ABA charges 9% transfer fees plus, every transfer has a transfer fee both here and in the country of origin, usually $5 per transaction this can add up to a substantial amount when you are doing this on a monthly basis, Ok just checked out Transferwise exchange rate no better than I can get from any ATM also transfer rate more than local banks.
There is something like a 10 dollar charge.
Must be a cracking bank you have to get the same rate as transferwise-I'm sceptical. And also you are paying at least a 5 dollar fee per withdrawal, plus maybe more fees from your home bank for foreign currency withdrawals.
Credit card cash advances are also really expensive, many people don't realise this. For cash advances interest is charged from date of withdrawal and not the end of the month like with normal purchases.
I now do monthly transfers through OFX, Good rates no transfer fees (requires registration through finders) $10 fee from local bank
