Any recommendations on transferring a reasonable amount of cash without poor exchange rates or high fees?
I've tried TransferWise which has worked fine to other countries but on the only time I sent some to Cambodia the receiving bank took a $60 fee out of a $300 transfer. Never experienced this anywhere else.
Used Western Union once but they have terrible exchange rates.
This will be in thousands of dollars as its payments towards a property so a small percentage difference on exchange rates or fees can have a large impact.
Cheapest way to transfer fund to Cambodia from Aus?

Hmm. Just checked and the account my girlfriend has is ABA. They are the ones who deducted $60 from my $300 transfer via TransferWise.
Can you confirm your wife received the full amount?
Vespa money changers give cash or do a bank transfer at exactly the rate.

It would help if you mentioned where in Australia you wished to send money from as there are Cambodian Diaspora Money Transfer Services in Sydney and Melbourne and possibly elsewhere. These are all single person businesses with ultra low overheads compared with banks and other businesses etc.
But as I am Sydney based and sending money regularly to Cambodia for many years now I use the following Money Transfer Service and highly recommend it:
The Pisey Tem Money Transfer Service. Mobile Phone 0430 211 899
Shop # 27
The Sky Centre - Directly opposite the Cabramatta railway station.
This is a fully licenced money transfer service with ABN 29932191582 and part of the Austrac anti-money laundering system. There is a daily limit of US$5,000 either sending to or received from Cambodia per client.
First time users need to meet the Australian 100 points Identification requirement either by producing your current passport or your current Photo ID Driver licence, which will be photocopied and retained for future reference by Austrac should it ever be required.
You also need to know your intended beneficiary's correct full name as per their Cambodian Photo ID Card and their current mobile (HP) phone number and town/Province.
Under current Australian law money can't be sent to persons under 18 years of age using these services, even though you cease to be a minor in Cambodia at age 16. There is a bit of a grey area here as Cambodia is a signatory to the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child but it's Australian Commonwealth law that prevails if sending or receiving funds within Australia.
I am a very regular user of this particular service and have been for many years now. The service is designed for persons who do NOT have bank accounts so it is very much a cash-in-hand service and no banks are involved. Recipients in Cambodia often have their money in hand, regardless of where they live in Cambodia, by the time I get back home in Sydney, although 3 to 4 hours is the norm, because of the link in Phnom Penh with the WING Cambodian Telephonic money transfer system, the original and largest such system in Cambodia with over 5,500 outlets throughout Cambodia.
In fact I have used The Pisey Tem Money Transfer several times this month already and will be doing so again on Thursday.
