Last month I wanted to convert € into $ but the exchange rate was really bad, something like 1.10 when it would normally be 1.16
That's a $50 difference if you've got 1000€ to convert.
Normally those shops offer excellent rates with a very narrow spread, so I was surprised. They told me they couldn't get/send cash abroad so they had to cost in a higher exchange risk.
Are the rates still bad or have they come back to normal?
Money changers
Still bad, no tourist, no demand
If you want to get a better rate, find a friend that has account at the BRED, they are still offering better rates than street money changer. Rate for today 1.1565, whilst Ly Hour is offering little bit less than 1.10USD for one EUR
(but you can't just get in and ask for currency exchange, they only do it if you own an account with them...)
