waterless/dry shampoo??
waterless/dry shampoo??
I almost brought some with me but I mistakingly decided to lighten my luggage and buy some on arrival. Unfortunately, I cannot seem to find any in Phnom Penh, and no one seems to know what it is. If anyone knows where i could find some or what (if any) brand is available here, I would appreciate the assistance.
I just googled it...apparently you can use any shampoo and you will get the same results, just put it in your hair minus the water, and then wash it out 12 hours later...problem solved.
...but to be honest I just use my shower gel so I am no expert on the matter.

I'm not a negative person, I encourage people all the time...it's usually to f**k off! But, whatever.

I used it once years ago on a camping trip. Doesn't work. It just makes your hair oilier and ickier until you get enough water.

Actually, the point of dry shampoo is so you do not have to wash your hair every day (for the same reason there are shower caps). If you have short or oily hair, that may seem like an absurd idea, but for long hair, excessive washing strips the hair, making it dry and frizzy, as well as removing any sort of color or conditioning treatment. For unfortunate people like me, with hair that is naturally dry and frizzy already, daily daily washing is not ideal or advisable. This climate is harsh enough on my hair with the humidity. It may not work for everyone but it does work for me. Of course, not all brands are the same.

At least once a month.
Seriously, there's not many showers around in the middle of the Namibian desert. Water= drinking only.

LOL, but she was one hot Österreich! 'Greta', btw.
One female that accompanied us had some of the stuff, and she suggested we try it out
It was still when long hair was in fashion, it took a few long showers after the trip before it all washed out.
Kind of like non-alcoholic whisky, totally missing the point.

Have never seen it here, but google the ingredients, may be easy to replicate.
Read an article ages ago on this, said it was mostly rice flour, oatmeal and something else -- basically things that absorb oil. Start with rice flour (should be easy to find here, try Orussey market) and see how you go, I think you just rub it into your scalp and then comb / shake out.
Please post results if you attempt.

My wife made up a batch of DIY dry shampoo for snow camping in the Sierras last winter. She never used it, so I can't say how well it would work.
Here it is, step-by-step:

cornstarch
baking soda
cocoa powder - just make sure it's unsweetened, for an obvious reason.
a paper funnel
a container to store it in
measuring spoons

That's like, your opinion, man.
Maybe try u-care pharmacy? They have a lot of beauty products, particularly the u-care mart on the riverfront.
IMHO though, and as someone who also has long frizzy hair, stay away from the dry shampoos, I find it doesn't help at all and using it long term may have a more negative effect.

The idea of not washing hair daily in this heat seems a smelly one to me.
Many of these are available in Japan for people who are bedridden..... why would you not want to wash your hair everyday...!
