Hi all,
A friend of mine with HIV is running out of his Atripla / Viraday HIV medication (generic name: emtricitabine/tenofovir/efavirenz combination dose). Does anyone knows if it is available here and if so... where to buy? Thanks!
Where to buy Atripla / Viraday HIV medication?

Thanks! Do you know perhaps the price? In Europe the price of 1 tablet Atripla is about US $ 50.Bosco wrote:Penn Vong are likely to stock it, on Sihanouk just off Monivong past the temple.
Atripla or any other combination that contains Emtricitabine is not available in Cambodia. You could get it until a few years ago but not anymore. Don’t ask me why – politics. If your friend is planning to stay in Cambodia he will have to switch to Tenofovir/Lamivudine/Efavirenz. That won’t be a problem since Emtricitabine and Lamivudine have similar resistance profiles and both few side effects. My wife is taking a once-daily Tenofovir/Lamivudine/Efavirenz combination from India and pays about $70 per month for it.
We buy it from a Cambodian doctor who works for NCHADS. He has been a reliable source since six years and he can get anything you want, even exotic things like Enfuvirtide. If you pm me I will give you his telephone number.
If your friend doesn’t want to buy from a Cambodian he can try the Embassy Medical Center in street 228, close to SOS. They are associated with the Sihanouk Hospital Center of Hope which runs a huge HIV center.
HIV medication in Cambodia is distributed through the Gobal Fund and therefore only available through licensed doctors, hospitals and NGOs. There are some pharmacies that have HIV drugs but it’s usually a few bottles of AZT and Stavudine close to expiry date. Don’t bother trying.
By the way, CD4 and viral load checks can be done at the Institute Pasteur in Monivong:

Atripla (Emtricitabine 200mg - Tenofovir 300mg - Efavirenz 600mg) is not available at Pharmacie de la Gare but they DO SELL over the counter TRUVADA tablets (Emtricitabine 200mg - Tenofovir 300mg) and they DO SELL Efavirenz 600mg tablets. Problem solved ! The price of TRUVADA is US $ 160 for 30 tablets, the price of Efavirenz 600mg is US $ 20 for 30 tablets. Total costs per month US $ 180.Old_major wrote:Atripla or any other combination that contains Emtricitabine is not available in Cambodia. You could get it until a few years ago but not anymore. That’s good to know. I asked De la Gare, U-care and a few other pharmacies about a year ago and they had no ARV meds in stock then. Things change. Buy a few bottles extra to be on the safe side - private importers sometimes run out of stock.BenvandenBussche wrote:Atripla (Emtricitabine 200mg - Tenofovir 300mg - Efavirenz 600mg) is not available at Pharmacie de la Gare but they DO SELL over the counter TRUVADA tablets (Emtricitabine 200mg - Tenofovir 300mg) and they DO SELL Efavirenz 600mg tablets. Ask them to get it in. I have no idea about that medication but on a number of other meds they come in well priced. If you can convince them of continuous need they will order strange stuff for you. I've been dealing with them for 15 years.BenvandenBussche wrote:At Penh Vong pharmacy Atripla is not avalaible.Bosco wrote:Penn Vong are likely to stock it, on Sihanouk just off Monivong past the temple.
