Price for new glasses lenses
I saw a thread about the best eye clinics, and I also saw a recommendation for Poly Optics on Street 13 (near the junction with Street 110) to get glasses prescriptions filled.
I was wondering how much it typically cost to get new lenses, if you want to keep the same frames?
Thanks!

I remember this being $35 at Poly.
ALL BLUES with John Kessler on KNKX
I had a pair done at Poly Optics for $45 all up.
I then had to get just the two lens replaced after I had chipped both of them. They charged only $10 to replace both lens into the existing frame.

Opticians here have a stock/standard range. If you have frames that are not from that range, the prices go up. Best thing to do is go in and ask.Miguelito wrote:The nicer the frames, the more they'll upcharge you?Chuangt2u wrote:Depends on the frames
Here's mine. Good guy, fluent English - returnee ex-US, I think.
That's Toul Kork antennae on the left of frame, there.

Lens pricing is highly depending on the lens type. Astigmatic lenses are expensive. Higher negative dioptre lenses tend to be from material with higher refraction indexes (to avoid the very thick outer sides) and as such also more expensive. (Multi-) Coated lenses are even more expensive.
single vision, yes, but I'm not sure about the scratch resistant issue.horace wrote:^^ Is that for single vision with scratch resistant lenses ?

Update:
I went to Optics Care on street 128 to have some lens swapped out. Because I like variety, I had four pairs of frames. I didn't have a prescription, so they tested me on the spot. I was a little nervous as he looked to be about 22, but he did a great job and matched my prescription perfectly.
I ended up ordering 2 normal lens, one transition (for inside/outside tint), and one sunglasses lens. The total for the four was $76, and they were ready in an hour.
A breakdown for the regular lens would be:
$10 for the cheapest option
$14 for a stronger lens
$24 for the strongest lens, from Korea
$34 for the stronger lens, from France.
I opted for the $24 lens, which is scratch resistant and anti-glare.
I then paid $10 for the [prescription] sunglasses lens (I could choose the color), and another $20 for the transitional lens.
For those astute at math, you'll notice the total should have been $78. I asked for a discount and he gave me $2 off (hey, better than nothing).
I recommend them - fast, cheap, and good quality service and product.
