Hi guys
For the past 2 months or so, every time I cough I get a sharp electrical pain in my right arm that emanates from just above my elbow. It's particularly bad for the first few hours I'm awake, but by the end of the day it's hardly noticeable. I'm a little concerned about it now, and would like to get it checked out somewhere. Does anyone have any recommendations? I thought about trying Gavin Scott, but I'm not sure he'd be the right one for something like this. Hell, I don't even know where to really begin with this - I thought it might be related to my arteries/heart, but a few friends have suggested it's a nerve issue.
Thanks for any recommendations in advance!

Why do you cough?
If you don't cough no pain in the arm, simple, no?
Enough trolling from me , go and see the guys at Phnom Penh Physiotherapy, you'll be surprised how many pain issues stem from poor posture, old neck and shoulder injuries , ect.

I know three people who have this to varying degrees, similar ages within 6 years.
I think it's these crappy beds.

You should def go and get it checked out. Someone I know had pins and needles in one of his arms - went to the doc - and was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Also, the coughing is an early sign for other things. If you want to be sure, go to Thailand or maybe even back home for a visit. Or, it could just be related to the back etc.
CAT scans are cheap as chips in HCM, so maybe not too bad here too.

Do you have diabetes, perhaps? Diabetes can cause nerve damage and affect various parts of the body. This nerve damage manifests in a disorder called neuropathy and the pain from this disorder is often compared to electrical shocks or burning and pins & needles...

One reason why i hate going to see drs.For many people, the cause of nerve pain cannot be identified even after extensive testing. This is called unexplained (idiopathic) nerve pain, or idiopathic neuropathy. Unexplained nerve pain may still be due to nerve damage that occurred at some point, but current medical knowledge and testing can't say how, when, or why.
Between 15 million to 20 million Americans are believed to have unexplained nerve pain -- about one in 10 people over age 40. It's most likely to occur in people over age 60.

Arm pain could be a referred pain from problems within the cervical spine, a herniated disc for example. Coughing can increase pressure on the disc and cause the referred pain. I do not know how correct this is but supposedly a test is to look upwards when coughing and the pain should diminish. A physio should be able to help in this case.NanbanSan wrote:Hi guys

However it could be more serious like Cervical stenosis for example. Personally if you are worried I'd get Gavin Scott to check it out. For hospital recommendations, Central hospital are pretty good generally and have good facilities including CT equipment. I would think the new Sunrise Japanese hospital should be pretty good but have not checked it out yet.
