I did ask about this some time back, but cannot find the post and the replies it contained.
My extended Cambodian family has several young girls and I would like to arrange for them to be vaccinated.
Suggestions on where in PP the parents can arrange to take the girls for the shots would be appreciated ?
Also:, Its my understanding that getting the young boys vaccinated will stop them becoming carries of the virus.
If this is correct I will ask that they be vaccinated also.
Now for the really hard part -
Explaining to the parents why this would be necessary.
Do you know of any Khmer documents / medical sites I can down load information from that I could show the parents which would explain why it would be good to have their daughters vaccinated.
Thanks in advance.

It's part of the national vaccination program.

In January 2017, the Ministry of Health introduced a HPV vaccine demonstration programme in six operational districts in two provinces and will scale up to national introduction in early 2019. Particular for this demonstration programme, Cervarix vaccine was chosen and two doses of HPV vaccine will be administered at least six months apart to only 9 year-old girls.

Scoff - the youngest a child should get the vaccine is 9. But generally in most countries, the vaccination program is for 11-12yos. In Oz, boys have joined this program since last year. Just as it does girls, it can cause cancers for boys as well - but importantly also helps to stop spreading the disease when sexually active.
You can get the vaccine from Pasteur in PP.
The vaccine also prevents genital warts - might buy a few shares in GSK, coz there might be a short term spike if this gets advertised around the bars........

Thanks for the replies folks, greatly appreciated.
Now for the hard part...,
Can anyone direct me to a publication written in Khmer that I can show to my in laws that explains the importance of this vaccine.
I will need to enlist the help of two of my sister in laws to get this happening and they do not speak English and my Khmer is very limited.

Not directly related to HPV, but here's also a great bunch of Khmer language resources on a variety of health issues from the Victorian state government: http://www.healthtranslations.vic.gov.a ... Cambodian)
