Kelly Slater is widely considered the best surfer to ever live, a pioneer of the sport who has dominated competitive surfing en route to 11 world titles throughout his career.

The 46-year-old added to his legend on Sunday at the Pipe Masters in Hawaii, pulling off a move that left even himself in awe.

Very few sport legends I can think of in Kelly Slater league.
Actually right now I can only think about Sebastien Loeb 9 times consecutively WRC world champion.

Loeb a good call. I’d also suggest Jonny Rea on world superbikes.
4 consecutive world championships despite them changing the rules in the middle of that to try to make it more competitive.

Maybe, but for much of his F1 time AFAIC he had the best car by far. Often he qualified at the front of the grid and then won from the front.

For Jonny Rea he races twice each weekend, the winner of the first race starts at the back of the grid for the second. He is forced to race much more than Schumi.

No way the kraut pilot can qualify as an old time legend. Ayrton Sena would probably have if he didn’t die so early. However thanks to you mentioning F1, a real one pops to mind: Juan Manuel Fangio.
