There is an affirmation on the fridge that says 'Life is for Living'. While not usually one who lives by slogans, 'life' by definition is for living.violet wrote: ↑Tue Apr 16, 2019 5:02 amWho determines what living is? Not wanting to argue. It's a genuine question.
Re what determines living? That's the individual input of the equation, so all rather subjective in that context.
I was actually being my usual flippant self and really only pointing out that there can not be life without the living.

In response to Kinard, I think RWE put it rather well:
" Write it on your heart
that every day is the best day in the year.
He is rich who owns the day, and no one owns the day
who allows it to be invaded with fret and anxiety.
Finish every day and be done with it.
You have done what you could.
Some blunders and absurdities, no doubt crept in.
This new day is too dear,
with its hopes and invitations,
to waste a moment on the yesterdays."
Ralph Waldo Emerson

Glad to be me.
I'm sure you are glad to be you.
I'd listen to your reasons but I doubt you are open minded enough to have a conversation with me. Judge away, dude.

This is a very personal equation about expectaions. For me it is looking forward to what each new day will bring, not worrying that I won't be able to face the problems I might find. For me also, that means maintaining good health, or the possibility of getting back into good health if I do get ill. It does not mean being rich, it means being able to afford what I need to be happy. Believe me when I say that takes very little money, especially living in a 3rd world country, which is why I choose to live in one.violet wrote: ↑Tue Apr 16, 2019 5:02 amWho determines what living is? I do not believe we can judge another's happiness. I know very poor people who are happy with what they have, and very rich people who will never be happy. As a retired nurse, I also know people who are in very poor health; due to accident, injury, birth, or disease. Some of them will never be happy, and some wake every day with a smile. It is, I believe, a choice we each make every day.

I forgot one other thing that inspires me, children, especially ones still not corrupted by society. It is absolutely amazing the things children will face and bounce back from. They are the best thing God ever made.

Based on his multiplicity of fuck-ups, I doubt Dog had a hand in children at all, but I tend to agree with your basic premise.Johnsell50 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 17, 2019 12:37 pmI forgot one other thing that inspires me, children, especially ones still not corrupted by society.
