what were you in for?
Been to Royal Phnom Penh Hospital?
Hi, so I went to RPH for a Check Up a couple of days ago. Maybe I was lucky but it wasn’t really busy that day. So, the staff were friendly and less stressed as a result (compared to Bangkok-Pattaya Hospital).
All equipment at RPH up to date.
The doctor I saw when the Check Up was concluded was particularly good- at Bangkok-Pattaya they just want to get you on your way, but the doctor at RPH went over *everything that the Check Up covered, asked me a lot of health questions and entered my answers in his computer.
So, Check Up was great, I don’t know if I’d do surgery or something other than a Check Up there, not because of the conditions at RPH, but because of the horror stories I read in this post.
It was my first time there, I would go back; money well spent.
RPH facilities and staff were just fine, in my observation.

I was in the ICU for a spell when my dengue went bad, was horrified to see mosquitoes in the room with me. I thought that would mean a big danger of passing on my dengue to others around me.
Just don't go to Khema.
It looks the part but they don't have a bastard clue.

why, what happened?
The wife has been there a couple of times and they were ok
I was in for 36 hours recently with what was pretty obviously dengue or chickenwinga.
1400 dollah later they'd tested for everything but.
Took the results to Gavin Scott and he was horrified. Said they're not even doctors as we understand it.
A few tests later he confirmed dengue and begged me not to go there again.
He said RPP is still the only one in town but even then they can't currently get the good docs in from Thailand.
If I hadn't felt at death's door I would have gone to RPP but it just seemed too far away.
Gavin is still the only show in town too.
Gavin's certainly a good first choice for serious problems, he'll know where to go if he can't handle it.
Glad to hear you're over it. That ridiculous bill must have felt as painful as the fever.

I would say that if you have anything even moderately serious and you can't pop over to Bangkok or Singapore, etc, then get a recommendation of a doctor (who knows shit) and not a hospital which is, after all, just a building.
Nurse Gloria on St.99 has served me well.
