Rubbish!
We will soon see, despite the 'Doom & Gloom' predictions, that Sweden was right.
We shall see - very soon - It will be days.
Let us see.

Just have a look at the Johns Hopkins link I gave and, once you get your head out of the dirt, you can easily see where Sweden is heading.

Six weeks! Man, I can't imagine that, especially difficult for you while you're all alone with only what you could fit on a bicycle. Hopefully you've developed a nice in home exercise regime.horace wrote: ↑Mon Apr 20, 2020 8:16 pmI agree with this pretty much, Germany and South Korea have shown the way , and Sweden, with lots of testing, contact tracing and a disciplined population who will follow the basic rules of social distancing, hand washing and now it seems masks may be important too. The tough lockdown in Spain does not appear to working in my opinion every day there's another 4000 or so new cases. Yes, the logarithmic curve is flattening but that could keep on happening till the end of time.springrain wrote: ↑Mon Apr 20, 2020 7:27 pmAgain, Sweden is leading the way.
NO lockdown is necessary.
People need fresh air, company and a future to look forward to.
No need for panic, fear and stress.
Let people work; let folk live.
Well done, Sweden!
Week six of lockdown here and over 200,000 infections and over 20, 000 deaths. The hospital staff have been hit really hard with something like 30,000 cases! A lack of protective gear is the reason for that. So I would assume that Germany, Korea n Sweden also had adequate clothing and whatever else the staff needed in the hospitals.
The future is going to have to be social distancing, masks in shopping centres and public transport, hand washing and most importantly not showing up to work or anywhere if you are feeling sick. Get tested , contact tracing and isolation are way better than indefinite lockdowns.
I have a feeling a lot of people are going to emerge from this a few sizes bigger around the waste.

^^ six brutal weeks of boredom and being like a polar bear just pacing back n forth along the veranda and throwing stones at the cats which have gone feral as their owners have not returned!
A couple of interesting facts have emerged from Spain:
Of the 21,000 dead, 65% are 80 years or older! In fact, when the hospitals became overwhelmed they basically stopped treating anyone over 80 other than making them as comfortable as possible.
35% of new cases are coming from health workers and their families.
Further proof that countrywide lockdowns don't work imo, perhaps quarantine a town or an area and doing testing/contact tracing but not the whole country. If you get sick and yer old stay home and prepare for your death. Harsh but reality and less chance of passing on the infection.
Furthermore, the government is discussing keep the borders closed for foreign tourists till the end of the year. That will fuck me right up and a lot of other businesses too. Just talks at the moment though.

Urrghhh, i woke up with Corona symptoms this morning, but then remembered the 1 and a half bottles of wine last night.
Fark, what am i gonna do today then? 1 day on, one day off, i guess.
Hey, i was just thinking. (Steady on)
This is basically a meat trade virus, right? It's almost as if, keeping animals in shite conditions will always come back and bite you on the ass eventually.
Well, they reckon that given technology advances, we are now not that far away from a vegan meat, that will eventually taste just like the real thing.
So my question is, wouldn't it be smarter and cheaper for scientists to concentrate on a vegan substitute to meat, rather than a new vaccine every 10 years?

We don't have to wait days to see anything. Sweden has been dangerously wrong throughout the whole ordeal. They claimed that infections peaked in March when there were 94 confirmed cases. One week later the number of confirmed cases grew to 500 when Stockholm, where most infections are, stopped testing people. Since then the amount of confirmed cases has grown to 15,372 despite the low frequency of tests.springrain wrote: ↑Mon Apr 20, 2020 8:58 pmRubbish!

It is absurd to think that Sweden can be so wrong about everything, yet the final outcome will somehow be positive. The reason why Sweden doesn't support a lockdown is because they accepted a disproportional number of refugees that drained the country's resources and now the country can't afford to temporarily halt its economy. Sweden's hospitals collapsed long before Covid-19.
Here's some Coronavirus related quotes from Sweden's state epidemiologist Anders Tegnell:
2020-01-20
There are already some indications that there are infections between people in certain situations. But it does not "effectively" infect, as we epidemiologists say, because we have not seen any spread in, for example, health care.
- That we would get a large spread in Sweden is unlikely.
2020-01-24
The new virus spread in China seems to be less dangerous than both SARS and MERS.
2020-01-25
But the risk of being infected in Sweden is still non-existent and the virus is not spread in other countries either
2020-01-29
In China, and in many other countries, people are seen wearing mouthguards. Although it does not help
Few are infected outdoors or in public environments, so there is no need to worry about door handles and the like.
2020-01-30
No, there is no knowledge ever showing that this type of illness is affected if you limit your social contacts.
2020-01-31
the corona virus will be close to a common influenza in danger and duration
2020-02-08
When it comes to this type of travel, there is absolutely no need to worry about the corona virus. In the Alps and southern Europe, for example, there is no spread
2020-02-21
There is a greater risk of being struck by lightning than being infected by the new virus, at least right now.
2020-02-26
Getting infected on the subway is very unusual, if it happens at all.
2020-02-27
It is about the same degree of infectiousness as regular flu
2020-03-03
The fact that we get more cases does not mean that the routines are wrong, on the contrary
2020-03-05
So we can expect a peak now, maybe tomorrow too, but then it should calm down again
2020-03-05
There is reason to believe that we will peak now, that we have peaked
2020-03-07
I thought they would put a stop to it in China, but my assessment turned out not to be correct. But I do not think that it will be a "classic" pandemic with many sick people all over the world at the same time. Without it, "jumps" from various "hot spots" like Wuhan and northern Italy.
2020-03-08
I was a little too optimistic. I had not thought or understood that it may take a few days in the system before the cases show up here in Sweden as well. It is not just the incubation period that applies, but you have to spend a few more days before being registered and diagnosed here in Sweden. Therefore, the peak seems to extend another one or several days more than I thought.
2020-03-12
There is one aspect of this that is about equality. There are certain groups in society that can do this way but not all and how should we get to it in a good way so that we continue to have an equality in society and that everyone has a chance to themselves healthy.
2020-03-18
It is very much because we did a great job in Sweden when it comes to all the people who came home from Italy. We radically reduced the spread of infection from them and this means that we now have a better situation and can be better prepared than other countries
2020-03-23
I think most people think it looks more positive now than a few weeks ago
