Freedom is not a state. It is an act. It is not some enchanted garden perched high on a distant plateau.. Freedom is a continuous action we all must take, and each generation must do its part to create an even more fair, more just society.-John Lewis
Good move, Rob has been more than a little tedious lately. Must be off the drink still.

Don't take any notice from the WHO on this.
I'm pretty bloody sure Roger Daltrey and the others aren't doctors.

it appears that australian cities are suppose to be most at risk after china
once again we see foreigners getting australian citizenship and all the perks and rorts that they can extract then return to their countries of birth to live only to need rescuing
when it turns into a trap
happened in lebanon too. lebanese australians on fat disability pensions being rescued from their greed and trap
once the lucky country now the fucky country

doesn't fit your rhetoric but there's more than one way to view 'most at risk because'maxx wrote: ↑Fri Jan 31, 2020 6:39 amit appears that australian cities are suppose to be most at risk after china

most at risk because they had the least plans in place of how to isolate and manage it. Of all developed countries, Australia's ability to manage it was bottom. - but now they have a plan. Send them to Christmas Island.

and it's the students that are coming in droves not foreigners getting Australian citizenship
students - worth billions to the Australian economy - so government turns a blind eye to all the negatives that go along with it. 'cos it's money that counts.

Yep, but it's your own fault. Like some Afghan minister told members of government when visiting Sweden "-You've gotta look over your pull factors first before complaining". Sweden, too, like Oz, has learned the hard way that people from farawayistans landing on our shores look to their own situation first before embracing universal socialist ideals of working for the common good. This is a difficult thing to realize for most Western politicians.maxx wrote: ↑Fri Jan 31, 2020 6:39 amit appears that australian cities are suppose to be most at risk after china

Here in China I don't see bodies pile up quite yet but the situation is a bit tense and streets are quite empty. Everyone wears one of the currently unobtainable face masks.
I heard that the govt of Oz will charge only AUD1000 for an all inclusive 14 day package trip to Christmas Island so maybe I'll go there since schools are shut down until the 17th and I will work from home during the same time.
But maybe that offer was only for Oz citizens?
One mire thing - that Chinese habit of picking up a passport is not just for free loading, it also allows you to put your kids in one of the Eton priced international schools in China. Going rate for top schools in Shanghai is about USD40k and up. Per year. School bus is an extra 2-3k or so.

Shanghai. So still creature comforts like groceries and take out food are available. I live in the 'burbs so the place isn't overrun with sneezing coughing Chinese. Most people wear a mask unless they're inhaling the obligatory fag 20 times a day.

I did not know this. One more reason that I'll never go to Shanghai. Thanks for the info!

A Real Man smokes in China. I don't, but then I'm a Westerner. Fags are available from 3-5 RMB, about US 50 cent. A pack, that is. then there are Chinese luxury brands for up to 50 RMB or so. Educated Chinese tend to smoke less but the problem, especially in the countryside, is that few people are educated.
I spend a lot of time in 5 star hotels due to my work travels. Like Marriott and other chains. Seeing 30 year olds exiting the elevator on a Wednesday night piss drunk and smoking in the elevator is fairly common in smaller towns of only a couple million people. Economic growth has not led to a similar growth in social standards.
