Are you aware of Q fever?kinard wrote: ↑Mon Mar 16, 2020 11:30 amConcerned, I'm high risk, in the 17.5% grouping and even had something nasty 6-8 weeks ago, really nasty with everything covid-19 has, right down to the incredibly sticky phlegm and difficulty getting it out of the lungs. I was doing regular maintenance at a chicken farm and firmly believe it was a case of bird flu. Took 10 days to feel right.
Here's some info about factoring one's chances of dying from covid-19.

I'm not aware about much these days, but no, I've never heard of it. After reading about it, very possible.violet wrote: ↑Mon Mar 16, 2020 2:17 pmAre you aware of Q fever?kinard wrote: ↑Mon Mar 16, 2020 11:30 amConcerned, I'm high risk, in the 17.5% grouping and even had something nasty 6-8 weeks ago, really nasty with everything covid-19 has, right down to the incredibly sticky phlegm and difficulty getting it out of the lungs. Here's that recent study from the Lancet.
... Epidemiological and clinical characteristics of patients with COVID-19 have been reported but risk factors for mortality and a detailed clinical course of illness, including viral shedding, have not been well described.
...
In this retrospective, multicentre cohort study, we included all adult inpatients (≥18 years old) with laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 from Jinyintan Hospital and Wuhan Pulmonary Hospital (Wuhan, China) who had been discharged or had died by Jan 31, 2020.
Demographic, clinical, treatment, and laboratory data, including serial samples for viral RNA detection, were extracted from electronic medical records and compared between survivors and non-survivors. We used univariable and multivariable logistic regression methods to explore the risk factors associated with in-hospital death.
Findings
191 patients (135 from Jinyintan Hospital and 56 from Wuhan Pulmonary Hospital) were included in this study, of whom 137 were discharged and 54 died in hospital.
91 (48%) patients had a comorbidity,
with hypertension being the most common (58 [30%] patients),
followed by diabetes(36 [19%] patients)
and coronary heart disease (15 [8%] patients).
...
higher Sequential Organ Failure Assessment (SOFA) score (5·65, 2·61–12·23; p<0·0001),
and d-dimer greater than 1 μg/mL (18·42, 2·64–128·55; p=0·0033) on admission.
Median duration of viral shedding was 20·0 days (IQR 17·0–24·0) in survivors, but SARS-CoV-2 was detectable until death in non-survivors.
The longest observed duration of viral shedding in survivors was 37 days.

I am not worried but I am bored stupid already after only two days of the lockdown and I am pretty sure it , the lockdown, will continue after the initial 15 days is up!
k440, something to do when you're pissed.
For the 49 and unders these CDC stats dictate that for every 100 sick the odds are 100 survive. Even 96/100 in the 60's survive.

I don't see why you're both laughing at tefler's deaths. Even if you've got money, you'll be off to Russian hospital.
Chruoy Changva may well be the better option.

Spain, Castell de Ferro, Costa Tropical.
Everything other than food stores and the pharmacies are shut. Police road blocks on to the major highway both ends, the park n beach are off limits and no one is allowed to leave their home other than for work, food shopping or emergency, police patrolling with mega phones. This town is a weekend get away for Madrid and it is deserted normally during off season now it is a ghost town, and I am the only camper at the campsite! Nothing to do but drink beer n smoke hash but even that gets boring after a while.

I know that people are only joking or at least half joking about the TEFLER''S but some of them have families to support.
If any teachers are getting worried', my advice is to asap try to get some online teaching work. Here is a link to a great resource for online ESL teachers and subject teachers. There are also referrals and people who can fast track you.

Why old people? Anybody of any age that gets a fever - my point being even if they're wealthy - will end up in Russian hospital.YaTingPom wrote: ↑Mon Mar 16, 2020 8:04 pmSo now you’re laughing at old people.kungfufighter wrote: ↑Mon Mar 16, 2020 7:38 pmI don't see why you're both laughing at tefler's deaths. I'm fighting black humour with black humour. Why should only the teflers get pulled out?

That's pretty good advice. As this expands there will be a lot more demand for online learning. My son's school closed today as per the ministry directive. His school uses what I considered perhaps too much use of laptops in class, but now I'm seeing it as a good thing. Who is going to stand over him and tell him to do the work and stop fucking around on TikTok though?Hot_Pink_Urinal_Mint wrote: ↑Mon Mar 16, 2020 7:51 pmI know that people are only joking or at least half joking about the TEFLER''S but some of them have families to support.
