Are you worried about COVID19?
How worried are you about COVID-19? Do you even believe there is ANY possibility that you may die?
Enjoy your life right now this seems like it could kill some of us.. thank god im not in PP right now but if I survive this I’ll be in PP as soon as it’s over, drinking beers and barfining bar girls. Call me a degenerate

It mostly kills middle aged and older people who have prior medical conditions, and most expats in Cambodia are young adonis-type paragons of health and fitness.CryptoTrader wrote: ↑Mon Mar 16, 2020 9:24 amHow worried are you about COVID-19? I suspect there are many more than just the 12 cases confirmed here, so concerned is probably the word I'd use. I am concerned about how this country could cope with an epidemic. I suspect all of us will know of at least one person who has succumbed down the line whether here or from where we originally came from. Me personally? I don't think I will die, at least not today, and unlikely from COVID-19.CryptoTrader wrote: ↑Mon Mar 16, 2020 9:24 amHow worried are you about COVID-19? I guess there will be a lot of empty park benches along the riverfront by the time this is over.....gavinmac wrote: ↑Mon Mar 16, 2020 9:34 amIt mostly kills middle aged and older people who have prior medical conditions, and most expats in Cambodia are young adonis-type paragons of health and fitness.CryptoTrader wrote: ↑Mon Mar 16, 2020 9:24 amHow worried are you about COVID-19? Yes, I am concerned. A little for myself, I am 55, and a lot about my parents.

You would probably be the fittest 55yr old in South East Asia.
Horace must be fit too but he is like.......89 or something

Hanno, I was just saying on the hash yesterday how there will likely be fewer white faces about in the coming weeks. The overpaid expats are always first for the chop when times are hard. And how many teachers have the resources to sustain themselves without work for more than a week or so?

Concerned, I'm high risk, in the 17.5% grouping and even had something nasty 6-8 weeks ago, really nasty with everything covid-19 has, right down to the incredibly sticky phlegm and difficulty getting it out of the lungs. I was doing regular maintenance at a chicken farm and firmly believe it was a case of bird flu. Took 10 days to feel right.
Here's some info about factoring one's chances of dying from covid-19.

Agreed, there will be a big thinning of the ranks. I guess I will be on unpaid leave soon with nowhere to go.....slavedog wrote: ↑Mon Mar 16, 2020 11:28 amHanno, I was just saying on the hash yesterday how there will likely be fewer white faces about in the coming weeks. Well you have a few more hours to make your way back into Cambodia before you're shut out for at least a month.Hanno wrote: ↑Mon Mar 16, 2020 11:37 amAgreed, there will be a big thinning of the ranks. In Europe i'd say 80-90 % told to avoid social gathering and self isolate will do it. Most non essential shops are shut down Most payments are contactless or by card, not dirty banknotes. Supplies can be bought and delivered without much human interaction, not mostly in crowded markets.
People have been hammered to stay home and to work online whenever possible, or to keep a safe distance, so the curve will eventually flatten like it did in China.
I don't see any of those practices working in Cambodia. Plus almost no testing facility and clueless medical staff. Current numbers must be the tip of the iceberg.
I think Cambodia is a fucking timebomb, just like Thailand, and expats should be much more concerned.

I wasn't really until I read a couple of reports yesterday from people who have had it and recovered. The 'it's just a flu' mob had me convinced that I'd be out of commission for a couple of days. But after reading the reports it sounds like it's a completely bloody miserable experience for around 10 days even for youngish healthy folks. Flu sounds like a walk in the park compared to this.

If any of you have underlying health conditions like high blood pressure, kidney or heart problems, it's a no brainer that you should be isolating yourselves.
Buy two months worth of whatever you eat, possibly switch to water if you can stand it, and remain indoors.
Aljazeera reported the total infections stand at 153,000 and total deaths at 5,800 at time of print. That's a percentage of 3.8 mortality rate. It's likely to be a lot lower though, as there are probably a lot that either have mild or no symptoms and haven't been tested. Plus, with all the borders now closed or about to be, effective tracing is likely to be a lot lower than it was before.
