I rarely cook rice so would never need one.

rice cookers are quite versatile and can cook more than just rice: they can be used like a bamboo steamer to cook vegetables and whole fish, if you quickly fry chicken drumsticks with Indian spices then add uncooked rice to coat the rice before putting the whole lot in the rice cooker along with cumin seeds and bingo 20 min later a Briyani (sp), pasta can also be cooked in a rice cooker with the lid left open, soups n stews too!
@ Guest (!.blDoYYH1c) Precisely. I cook everything from Rice, Pasta, Soups and even Potatoes in that Rice Cooker. Great invention. The other Kitchen Tool is my Hot Water Boiler which i use for Tea and Instant Noodle Soups. As a third option i have an electric Wok for everything i want to fry.
Don't you have to keep pushing down the Cook button every 5 minutes?
Electric woks are really unnecessary. I fry everything on my iron. Sometimes leaves a few stains on the clothes but I wash them again in the vacuum with the nozzle in a bucket of water.

Fred Edwards Re:Air Friers A friend of mine bought one recently and it did a perfect job. No fat , grease etc involved anymore. We tried everything including Cashew Nuts which tasted a lot better after being air fried/roasted, too.
The thing was around 60 USD and in my opinion worth it.

I use an "air-fryer" a couple of times a week. It obviously does not fry, the thing is named wrongly, it is more of a small convection oven. It is a little healthier than a deep-fat fryer as it uses less oil. Downsides are that, whilst the air-fryer itself is big, it does not hold much food. If you have a big family to feed, forget it.

Great for drying clothes. No need for one of those unsightly hanger things.
When I first came to Cambodia I used the rice cooker pot to boil water and rice on the stove. The land lady was shocked.
