I'm just a girl looking for a sart songsar...
3 pages deep and nobody said it? The wee elephant in the room?
Anyhow, apart from that issue op, there is a young buck poster called samouth, he's young, keen and traditional. He also lost his v plates via a sympathy shag off an ngo chick, so is well into white chicks. Pm him. Despite the stick he got, he's a good kid.
Just invite me to the wedding....
In all seriousness, i've seen about 1/2 dozen wfm/km relationships, a couple seem to be working, but out of the loop.

Neither of these two things of which you speak exist in Cambodia.Solomon Gumball wrote: He'll get stimulating conversation from me when he wants it and silence when he needs it.

agreed re. GM's post. I guffawed (the way we western women do).
Would I have a relationship with/marry a Khmer guy? I don't even think I'd do it with a western guy (or female). Some Khmer guys are kinda cute. Some of them have lovely personalities. I'd need to know the language before having a relationship with a local.... as I'm all about the mind and not the money, honey. I can understand how many of you males are happy to have serious committed relationships with women you can barely speak with but I need conversation.

I can promise you that is a negative. I tried a sock... can't do it. It feels duplicitous.bigphatt wrote:has violet finally turned into a sock?

Face it, Western society isn't as family-oriented as it used to be.
If a Khmer gentleman can communicate well enough to you, most of them (not the Tuk Tuk drivers most of these posters drink with) are quite gentle and are SUPER FAMILY-ORIENTED.
I mean generally thoughtful, gentle, polite. I guess I mean with more educated, middle- or lower-middle class Khmer men. They definitely put family and family-building first.
There is a chance if he is "one of the boys"-type he may feel some peer pressure to visit girly joints, but skip those guys. Go with the guy with the strong family values, surprisingly several I've met.
Unless you have hang ups or issues with Christians, a reputable Christian Khmer male is more familiar with Western people and family values. Not too many "surprises" there.
But on the whole, they had a war last generation, so they LOVE family. It's all they have at times.

OP is setting herself up against strong competition. Tons of decent, good looking local women have been looking for that elusive Khmer gentleman and end up settling with the likes of us (male 440 posters) as we represent a better alternative to the local scene, despite the fact many expats are barely functional individuals and would be considered as weirdos in a real country.
When logos represents a better alternative to anything, you know the world is pretty fucked.logos wrote:OP is setting herself up against strong competition. To the OP: we published an article on the dating scene for single western women a couple of years ago. It caused quite a stink. Here it is:

The problem with the world is stupidity. I'm not saying there should be a capital punishment for stupidity, but why don't we just take the safety labels off of everything and let the problem solve itself?

If it's like some of the one's on Facebook ... rapper gangster (in a Khmer way) types from the bad part of Long Beach or someplace. She's be disappointed and probably pass.ali baba wrote:OP, have you ever dated Cambodian men in the US?
Quite a few overseas Khmer do send their kids (usually sons) back here to find a Khmer (usually girls) to marry.
Most important is to have lots of shared interests and goals.
Good luck to the OP!
Don't worry, be happy.
