Playtime with 9-year old Khmer girl
Playtime with 9-year old Khmer girl
She's bright and very active and lives and goes to school in walking distance from the River. Anyone with kids for meeting up at the playground near Wat Phnom or the similar playground near the Palace for some playtime with her. She's quite comfortable around foreigners but does not have any barang playmates now.
She grew up in an extended family on a rice ranch out in the boonies so she has always had children of different ages around her and plays very well with them.
BTW a few of the things in the Wat Phnom playground are broken. Any speculation on how one might get them fixed?

Head to 3 Mangoes on street 360 on a Sunday; many families (barang/Khmer) use the pool etc

How about that play center place just down from Lucky Supermarket on Sihanouk Boulevard? I suspect there is a fee though. There is another on the second floor of Aeon Mall.ali baba wrote:The Wat Botum playground is in good condition.
I know I'm unloveable. You don't have to tell me. I don't have much in my life, but take it - it's yours.
Angkor Wat playground is a dump. Kids Cty on Sihanouk is good. Laser tag, climbing walls, playgrounds, science lab, etc. Aeon is OK but it gets very full of importantly dressed barangs who are glued to their phones on weekends.
Bless

I avoid 3 Mangoes as some of the customers are undesirables.
My son likes Royal palace chasing the birds. There is a place called Monkey Business, facility could use an update but keeps him occupied and cost $1.

When did you last see Wat Botum?
Last I checked was a few weeks ago and it was an absolute dump. Rubbish everywhere and homeless sleeping there (not that I'm blaming them for not having anywhere to go, but it's not good for the playground).

I can empathise with this. I almost stopped going to Long After Dark and Alchemy for the same reason.GMJS-440 wrote:I avoid 3 Mangoes as some of the customers are undesirables.

You should definitely stay away from those places. Hipster centralviolet wrote: I can empathise with this. I almost stopped going to Long After Dark and Alchemy for the same reason.

I thought I read you liked those two venues.

I don't think so, everyone I've met there is always friendly and jovial.GMJS-440 wrote:I avoid 3 Mangoes as some of the customers are undesirables.
Some customers enjoy a drink and a smoke, but that always seems discrete.

I had one particular person in mind who frequents the place. The kind that stole from his landlord, picks up guests from Wat Phnom and has the appearance of an Ogre. He settled down with one of the Wat girls amazingly, and now believe the child she gave birth to is his despite the fact he is pale and the kid looks Nigerian.
Otherwise, the place is fine. The Motorcycle Tour Co guys go over there and are top notch to get on the piss with.
I will not go due to the other one I mentioned. For some reason he thought it was OK to speak to me and I would like to avoid that in the future. I began to write him as such, however felt bad for him and left it in draft. Not sure why I felt bad for the cretin.

5. believe the child she gave birth to is his despite the fact he is pale and the kid looks Nigerian.
1. Conceivably legit character defect
2 & 4. vicarious kicks, voyeurism and gossip - congrats, surely the best kind of pleasure and highest form of human communication
3. shows your appreciation of the works of Francisco Goya
5. documenting his resistance to your referring him to an optician.
All and all, not a bad introduction to life's vicissitudes for a 9-year old about town.
