Copy of divorce certificate

Hi all,

Does anybody know the best way to get a copy of my divorce certificate in Cambodia? I'm in the UK now so any method would have to be done by friends still there I assume as I can't turn up in person to do anything. Divorce was issued by the court in Snooky in 2012. A friend of mine is chasing up the court there but progress is 'slow' from the Cambodian authorities to say the least and not sure they will come up with anything as it's been 4 weeks and the guy in the court keeps saying 'I'm waiting to hear from somebody'. The help from the British embassy was non-existent and Cambodian embassy in London are not much better. Obviously the ex-wife is totally unwilling to cooperate and give me a copy.

In guessing that you could hit a local law firm to chase it up for you. It'll cost though.

It's the usual problem better known elsewhere as "Fragrant Grease".

A Cambodian female friend wanted a copy of her divorce certificate - which is supposed to be free of charge - from the clerk to the Phnom Penh Court only to be told that it would cost her US$400. At which point she decided that she didn't need any such certificate, even after waiting the mandatory, for a female, one year after her divorce and all the more so as her ex is now dead and cremated.

A "small "donation" to the clerk of the court's welfare fund may expedite things.
